The Sopranos is considered one of the greatest television shows of all time, thanks to its mob-related content, award-winning acting performances, and the combination of every emotion one person can have. One minute the viewer was on the edge of their seat and the next minute they were laughing at Paulie Walnuts’ obsessive-compulsive behavior. Whether it was the unintentional comedy or the emotionally draining drama, The Sopranos delivered a great hour of television for over 7 years.
The series finale “Made In America” remains a divisive topic to this day, due to its sudden black screen ending that left everyone wondering what the hell just happened. Although, no matter what really happened, not everyone would have been pleased and would have found something to complain about. At the very least, the ending worked in terms of talking points, especially since everyone is discussing it 14 years after the show ended. However, wouldn’t it be interesting to know what happened to every main character after the show went dark?
8 Meadow Soprano Married Patrick Parisi And Became A Successful Lawyer
At the end of the series, it’s revealed that Meadow had been secretly dating Patrick Parisi. Patrick was the son of Patsy, one of Tony’s underlings that despised him because he knew Tony put a hit on his twin brother earlier in the series. However, Tony and Carmella meet with the Parisi family and Patrick reveals that Meadow got a job with a successful law firm. After the ending at Holsten’s, it would make sense if Patrick and Meadow got married and maybe had a couple of kids. Meadow always had a little chip on her shoulder but seemed to be a really smart and genuinely good person.
Going back to Season 3, Meadow was working at a lower-class law center and was helping a young Muslim girl with the legal problems she was going through. The more experience she gained at the law firm would pay off and her work ethic would allow her to become one of the most successful lawyers in New Jersey. Meadow and Patrick have a beautiful family and end up financially successful, giving their kids the same privileged life that they both grew up with, minus the mob connections and blood money their fathers dealt with.
7 A.J. Soprano Got Fired From Carmine’s Production Company Due To His Constant Whining
AJ Soprano is one the most hated characters in all of television history, probably because he was a self-entitled punk that complained about everything. Yet, after all his complaining and because he threatened to join the military, Tony pulled strings and got AJ a job with Carmine Lupertazzi Jr’s production company. In the finale, AJ is also seen making out with Rhiannon, the model who was institutionalized with him after his suicide attempt, but his SUV catches fire and blows up.
AJ and Rhiannon go on to start dating seriously and move in together but things start to fall apart when AJ gets fired from the production company, which leads AJ into another bout of depression. Carmine tells Carmella that AJ was showing up late to work and was constantly complaining to his bosses so he had to let him go. AJ moves back in with Carmella and remains a constant pain in the butt to this day.
6 Carmella Soprano Got Married to Vic Musto From Season 2
After what happened to Tony at Holsten’s (more on that later), Carmella was forced into being a single mother and later reconnected with Vic Musto. Vic was a home decorator and the brother-in-law of Davey Scatino, a childhood friend of Tony’s and a man who had a serious gambling problem. Vic and Carmella shared in a kiss in Season 2 and even began a flirting relationship, leading to Carmella inviting Vic over for lunch.
However, after Davey’s gambling debts got him in trouble with Tony, Vic realized how dangerous Tony really was and he didn’t show up for the lunch with Carmella. After Tony is gone, Carmella thinks of going to Italy and rekindling her relationship with Furio but runs into Vic at the hardware store. Vic, knowing that Tony is out of the picture, asks Carmella if she still wants to have that lunch they planned years before. Carmella accepts his invitation and the two begin a serious relationship, which leads to Vic moving into the house and their eventual marriage.
5 Paulie Ran The Aprille Crew But Eventually Retired To Miami
Paulie Walnuts was an amazingly outrageous character, thanks to his ability to scare viewers one minute and have them laughing a minute later. In the last episode, Tony offers Paulie the chance to be captain of the Aprille crew but Paulie refuses, citing the bad luck the previous captain’s of that crew had. Richie Aprille was killed by Janice, Gigi died on the toilet, and Ralphie was killed by Tony, so Paulie had some valid concerns. However, Tony convinces him to take over the crew when he says he and Patsy will be family soon so maybe Patsy deserves the honor.
Paulie’s jealous nature and his hatred of Patsy make him think twice, which leads to Paulie as the new capo and giving Tony exactly what he wanted. However, after Tony is gone, Paulie decides to retire to Florida and hangs out with Beansie Gaeta, another former member of the Aprille crew. Paulie remains in Florida to this day and still has one of the greatest tans, something that was important to him even when he lived in New Jersey.
4 Junior Died In The Mental Health Facility And Never Thought Tony Had The Makings Of A Varsity Athlete
Corrado “Junior” Soprano may have been the boss in Season 1 but he always seemed to be playing catch-up to what Tony and his crew were doing. Junior was strictly a boss by name and it wasn’t for long as he was arrested at the end of the first season. Yet, even after okaying a hit on Tony, the two grew close again when Junior was diagnosed with cancer. They seemed to be on good terms for several years but Junior started getting sicker and was also diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Junior seemed to be stuck in a different era and started repeating that Tony never had the makings of a varsity athlete, something he said to Tony when he was a kid.
Tony was upset at first but then realized he was saying these things because he was sick, yet he still wondered why Junior couldn’t repeat something positive about him. In the first episode of Season 6, Junior shoots Tony in the stomach because he thinks he’s someone else who’s trying to kill him. They only see each other one more time but Junior doesn’t remember who Tony is and he can’t even remember Tony’s dad. Sadly, Junior dies in the mental health facility shortly after finding out about what happened to Tony. He can’t seem to comprehend what happened and just keeps repeating, “Tony never had the makings of a varsity athlete.”
3 Janice Found Her Son Hal And Made A Nuclear Family With Bobby’s Kids
Janice may have been an annoyingly selfish character at times, yet when Bobby was killed she truly seemed upset. Although their relationship wasn’t perfect, Janice and Bobby seemed to be good for each other and Bobby’s kids even began to respect her. Janice had another child named Harpo but was never seen on the show and it’s later revealed he’s homeless and changed his name to Hal. After Bobby’s death, Tony and Janice sat on her back deck and Tony recommended bringing Hal into her new family, creating a “nuclear” family.
However, Janice seemed to be more concerned with who would get Uncle Junior’s money but Tony tells Junior he should leave that money to Bobby’s kids and not Janice. After Junior’s death, Janice decides to find Hal and continues to take care of Bobby’s kids and their daughter. Although her motives seem to be money-related, Janice builds a new life with her “nuclear” family and remains an integral part of all of the kid’s lives.
2 Tony Soprano Was Killed In Holsten’s Diner By The Members Only Jacket Guy
The famous cut-to-black ending will be debated for years, however, most fans think that the black screen signified Tony’s death. It most certainly did but with all the unusual suspects in Holsten’s, who killed Anthony Soprano? There were so many interesting people in the diner that night but the man in the members-only jacket was the one who pulled the trigger. The members-only jacket guy was the brother of Eugene Pontecorvo. Eugene was a captain for one of Tony’s crew at the beginning of Season 6 but wanted to retire to Florida with his wife and kids. Eugene received money from a family will and wanted to get his son away from New Jersey, especially since his son had a drug problem.
However, Tony says no to Eugene’s request to retire and the end of the episode reveals Eugene was working with the FBI. Eugene’s life started to unravel quickly and he ended up taking his own life, which led to his brother wanting revenge on Tony. The members-only jacket guy had the same skin tone and hair color as Eugene, which confirms it was him who shot Tony and killed him in Holsten’s.

After Tony’s death at Holsten’s diner, Silvio regained consciousness and after several months of rehabilitation, he took responsibility for the entire family. Silvio claims he was discussed as a candidate for boss after Jackie died and he did become acting boss at the beginning of Season 6 after Tony was shot by Junior. Although, his allergies started acting up and his breathing became labored after a few days of being the acting boss. However, after surviving the shoot-out in the final episode, Silvio gained a new perspective on life and decided he wanted to be more than a Consigliere. Silvio’s health improved and he was so respected by the family that he really became the only choice to carry Tony’s legacy.
