WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Charmed Season 3, Episode 16, “What to Expect When You’re Expecting the Apocalypse,“ which aired Friday on The CW.
Charmed‘s latest episode revealed just exactly how The Whispering Evil landed in Seattle. While The Charmed Ones have been attempting to find the ancient evil, it already took its human host. Ironically, The Charmed Ones did play a part in bringing the evil to Earth, but not knowingly. Season 3, Episode 15 showed exactly what the Perfecti warned the magical sisters about, depicting a SafeSpace that is overrun by the infected — zombie-like humans, making clicking noises and threatening to attack anyone who stands in their way.
It turns out that a recent escapee from the Tomb of Chaos wasn’t as freed as he initially thought — and his freedom might just have lined up with causing an apocalypse.
Previously, Jordan was sent into the Tomb of Chaos for assisting Abby in a ritual that was meant to strip her demon powers. Unfortunately, the Perfecti saw Jordan assisting the chaotic and murderous Abby and assumed that he too was a chaotic individual who deserved imprisonment. Although Jordan was freed from the tomb by The Charmed Ones, his experience of being locked in an interdimensional and reality-warping prison wore his spirit down. Much to Maggie’s disappointment, Jordan decided to leave Seattle to ground himself and stay away from the dangerous world of magic for a while to reset. Surprisingly, Jordan returns to Seattle in the show’s latest episode, claiming to feel like “a new man.”
As The Charmed Ones are giving Jordan a rundown on the latest magical doomsday event that’s approaching, he follows them to SafeSpace without asking any questions. At the time, the sisters think he’s just trying to help them, but they soon discover that Jordan was once again put into danger by them. In reality, The Whispering Evil was already in the Tomb of Chaos. Needing a human host, and sensing that Jordan was going back into the world, the ancient evil attached itself to him. Although the sisters try to contain him, he escapes.
Jordan being possessed by an ancient evil is the latest torture he’s had to experience while being close to The Charmed Ones. Previously, he’s also had his heart slowed down to a deadly pace, was kidnapped and attacked by Abby, imprisoned against his will and sent into a mind memory spell that almost caused him to spontaneously combust alongside Macy.
Although the sisters — Maggie especially — vow to save Jordan from this latest evil, it’s entirely possible that Jordan might not want to stick around Seattle for much longer even if he is healed. Despite his unresolved feelings for Maggie — and her inability to confess her feelings — he never signed up for this chaos. However, it’s also possible that Jordan might have left Seattle initially because he was already under the influence of The Whispering Evil. If that’s true, then maybe he just wanted to stay close to Maggie all along, while fate had other plans.
Charmed stars Sarah Jeffery, Madeleine Mantock, Melonie Diaz, Rupert Evans, Jordan Donica, Poppy Drayton, Mareya Salazar and JJ Hawkins. New episodes air Fridays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
