Making money in The Sims 4 without cheating isn’t too tough since plenty of jobs will give Sims a fairly significant amount of money early on. Even the Fabulously Wealthy Aspiration only asks Sims to get 50,000 simoleans, which can be done fairly quickly with the right career path. For players who want their Sims to become millionaires, they’ll have to look to some of The Sims 4‘s more profitable career paths.
There are many different careers currently in The Sims 4, though not all give the same level of income as others. Not all of the careers in The Sims 4 are meant to make money, however, as many career paths will unlock new outfits, buy mode items and room templates. For those looking for the most profitable career paths in The Sims 4, they should check out these five career paths on their next playthrough.
Science
The scientist career in The Sims 4 was added alongside the Get to Work expansion, serving as one of three different jobs that players could follow their Sims to. Drawing on inspiration from the inventor career in The Sims 3: Ambitions, the scientist career gives players access to a unique set of items that they can create while they’re on the job. While The Sims 4‘s scientist career isn’t as financially profitable as other jobs, it does have a fairly unique set of unlocks.
The scientist career involves players having to perform tasks at their Sim’s workplace to earn promotions. This means that players will have to spend time away from other Sims in their household and put a bit more effort into progressing through the career. The scientist career might not be great for a quick profit, but it does have some of The Sims 4‘s more fascinating unlocks.
Tech Guru
Available in the base game of The Sims 4, the tech guru career has some pretty hefty financial benefits. The start-up entrepreneur path will give Sims a daily income of about 512 simoleons once they reach the top position in their career. It also ends up being one of the easier careers to progress through, as it only requires Sims to work on their programming and charisma skills off-hours. Programming is as easy as picking an option on the computer, while charisma tends to build naturally during gameplay.
That being said, those looking for something a bit more interesting would be best off looking elsewhere. The tech guru career doesn’t really have any interesting unlocks associated with it, making the biggest benefit the massive income. This makes it a great background career for Sims that are better suited to exploring other aspects of The Sims 4.
Law
The Law career is similar to the tech guru career path in the sense that it’ll reward Sims with a massive income in exchange for being fairly boring. Both the private attorney and the judge branches of this career path pay fairly well, averaging out at around 430 simoleons an hour. There are item unlocks associated with both paths, though they’re mostly decorative items with emotional auras to improve a Sim’s mood.
Given that this career was introduced in The Sims 4: Discover University, there are a few university-exclusive interactions that this career unlocks, such as giving guest lectures. Outside of those unique interactions, there isn’t too much special about the law career path. Sims who pursue either of the law career’s branches can expect some good hours and a hefty paycheck.
Social Media
Added in the City Living expansion, the social media career is fairly similar to the base game writer career. It pays a surprising amount of money and also ties into a pretty enjoyable skill. The social media career pays about 540 simoleons an hour once players reach level ten in the internet personality path, though the hours that Sims will actually work are fairly low compared to other careers.
One of the bigger benefits of the social media career is that it’ll help Sims built skills relating to media production, meaning that they can produce videos for the internet in order to gain a little extra income. Being one of the more active careers in the game leads to it being fairly enjoyable, though players should expect to spend a lot of time improving their Sim’s performance in the career.
Writer
The writer career in The Sims 4 may be the most overpowered career path that a player can choose for their Sim. Not only is the author path for the writer career one of the highest paying jobs in the game with a max of 465 simoleons an hour, but it also ties in beautifully to the game’s book-writing mechanics. Sims have to author books to improve their job performance, which leads to these published books earning Sims even more money via royalties.
Royalties reward Sims with a certain amount of money weekly depending on the book’s quality, with a bestseller resulting in base royalties of 200-800 simoleans. While royalties alone pay less than most jobs do, they serve as a great bonus to the incredibly lucrative writer career. If that wasn’t enough, maxing out the writer career as part of the Bestselling Author ambition is one of the requirements to unlock the Book of Life, which lets players resurrect fallen Sims.
