The village of Konohagakure has always had a leader and a protector in the form of a Hokage, a ninja acknowledged and loved by the people. Currently, Naruto Uzumaki is the Seventh Hokage of the village in the Boruto era but eventually, the Will of Fire will have to be passed on and someone will have to take over.
Among a plethora of characters, Naruto’s son, Boruto Uzumaki, and Sasuke’s daughter, Sarada Uchiha, remain to be the two of the strongest candidates for this position, and both ninja have already shown signs as to why they should take over after the Orange Hokage of Konoha.
10 BORUTO: He’s Just Like His Father, Naruto
Although Boruto Uzumaki is his own character and has traits that set him apart from his father, he is still Naruto’s son. Boruto has inherited the determination of his father, and he never gives up on his friends. What’s more is that he wants to help everyone around him and is, thus, loved by many. Boruto’s core characteristics are the same as Naruto’s, making him a perfect fit for the role of Hokage in the future.
9 SARADA: She Dreams Of Becoming The Hokage
Sarada Uchiha idolizes Naruto Uzumaki, despite being the daughter of a legendary shinobi herself. For her, Naruto is everything that a ninja should be. Ever since a very young age, Sarada has expressed her desire to become the Hokage of Konohagakure and follow in the footsteps of her idol. With the backing of both Naruto Uzumaki and the support of Sasuke Uchiha, Sarada will most likely end up becoming the Hokage at some point in the story.
8 BORUTO: Every Ninja Is Drawn To Him
Boruto Uzumaki has an innate ability to draw people toward him through his actions. Although he’s very childish at times, Boruto can understand the pain and suffering of others and help them out however he can. His bright personality ensures that people find comfort in him, as evident from Mitsuki admitting that he’s drawn to him. As Itachi once said, the one who is acknowledged by everyone becomes Hokage, and Boruto appears to be on the right path.
7 SARADA: She Is A Compassionate Person
Just like Boruto, Sarada understands the pain and suffering of others all too well. Being slightly more mature than the young Uzumaki, Sarada is known to have shown compassion more often.
As a result, she’s a loved figure all over the village. Sarada is true to the principles that were set by Hiruzen Sarutobi and followed by Naruto Uzumaki. Her deep understanding of others makes her perfect for the spot of the Hokage later on in the story.
6 BORUTO: He’s The Last Hope For Shinobi
In Boruto: Naruto Next Generations’ prologue, Boruto Uzumaki is seen fighting Kawaki atop the destroyed Hokage faces. The entire village of Konohagakure is in ruins, and it is revealed that the age of shinobi is over. The fact that no other shinobi is seen around indicates that Boruto truly is their last hope against Kawaki. Carrying the history of the shinobi on his shoulders and standing up for them proves that Boruto has what it takes to be the greatest Hokage of all time.
5 SARADA: She Has Inherited The Skills Of Her Parents
Being the daughter of Sasuke and Sakura, Sarada Uchiha had inherited the skills and dreams of both her parents. Like Sakura, Sarada has terrific strength and some expertise in medical ninjutsu. Using the same abilities, Tsunade once rose to the position of Hokage. Like Sasuke, Sarada has the power of the Sharingan, and although Sasuke’s goal of becoming the Hokage appeared to have crumbled, it still lives on within his daughter Sarada Uchiha.
4 BORUTO: He’s Among The Strongest Ninja
Being the vessel of Momoshiki Otsutsuki, Boruto Uzumaki possesses the powers of one of the strongest beings to ever exist in the story. While he isn’t as strong right now, once he gains full control over his Karma, he will go on to surpass almost every shinobi to have come before him.
Having tremendous strength is essential for a Hokage to have, and Boruto Uzumaki certainly is going to tick that box as well.
3 SARADA: She’s The Leader Of Team 7
Konohamaru Sarutobi is the Jonin leader of Team 7, but in the Boruto manga, Sarada Uchiha takes over the role when the team fights against one of the Inners of Kara, Boro. Out of all the next generation shinobi, Sarada is known to have the best leadership qualities, which is essential for any Kage to have. Even Boruto Uzumaki, the protagonist of the story, listens to Sarada Uchiha and respects her enough to do what she asks of him during a mission.
2 BORUTO: He’s The Disciple Of Sasuke Uchiha
Boruto Uzumaki is inevitably going to be one of the greatest shinobi ever. He has loads of potential as a shinobi which can be brought out by Sasuke Uchiha, his mentor. The Uchiha sees a lot of Naruto in Boruto and acknowledges the younger Uzumaki as one of the most promising shinobi of the next generation. Given that Boruto has the backing of the Other Hokage of Konoha, it wouldn’t be a surprise for Boruto to become the Hokage himself one day.
1 SARADA: Konoha Needs Its First Uchiha Kage
The Uchiha Clan has set the foundation for Konoha to flourish along with the Senju Clan. While the village has seen multiple Senju leaders over the years, an Uchiha has never led the people despite many, like Itachi and Sasuke, having what it takes. Sarada Uchiha could very well put an end to that by becoming the first Uchiha Hokage of the village when she grows up and reaches her full potential.
