It released on the PS4 on April 26, 2019 and recently moved to PC on May 18, 2021.

Genshin Impact is an open world RPG that came out last year on the PS4, PC, and mobile devices. It also released on the PS5 earlier in 2021 and will soon be available on Switch. Developed by miHoYo, the game constantly gets updated, giving fans a reason to always return to it, and seeing as how the game is free to play, it’s a title that everyone can easily try out. Like Biomutant, there’s a lot of customization, and Genshin Impact also allows players to control multiple characters, making the two games feel similar from the beginning.

Speaking of RPGs, Final Fantasy is one of the best gaming franchises of all time and its most recent main installment, Final Fantasy XV, happens to be an open world game. Made by Square Enix, this title was released on November 29, 2016 for the PS4 and Xbox One, March 6, 2018 for PC, and November 19, 2019 for Stadia, with another version called Final Fantasy XV: Pocket Edition available on the PS4, Xbox One, PC, Switch, and mobile devices. Players control a prince named Noctis who embarks on an epic and tragic journey with his three best friends.

Another open world game published by Square Enix, though its setting is much smaller than Final Fantasy XV‘s, is NieR: Automata. Developed by PlatinumGames, it came out in 2017 and is playable on the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. In the game, players control three androids that must fight against the machines in an attempt to allow humans, who had fled to outer space, to come back to Earth.

Ghost of Tsushima was one of the most popular games released in 2020. The game allowed players to really feel like they were the iconic webslinger as they swung around New York City, battling some of the coolest villains from the comics along the way.

The Nintendo Switch is one of the best gaming devices ever made, being both a console and handheld system. It changed numerous elements of the Zelda formula that fans were used to, and though it didn’t have as good of a story or the best dungeons compared to previous installments, it also improved the series in a lot of ways. It came out on February 28, 2017 for the PS4 and August 7, 2020 for the PC. Developed by Guerilla Games and produced by Sony Interactive Entertainment, this title is about a girl named Aloy who learns the truth about her past and her dystopian world after she’s almost murdered trying to prove her worth to the Nora tribe, who had treated her terribly ever since she was born. With a sequel to this, Breath of the Wild, and other open world games forthcoming, gamers who haven’t yet tried these ten titles out should do so soon.
