Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Looks Like a Fun Fantasy Romp in These New Screenshots

New screenshots of Borderlands spinoff Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands have been revealed, further demonstrating the game’s fantasy landscape and Dungeons and Dragons inspiration.

The screenshots, uploaded to Twitter by Gearbox Software President and CEO Randy Pitchford, show off locales and creatures in the upcoming game. The screenshots give us a look at an in-game castle, armor-clad skeleton adversaries, what appears to be an enemy base perched in some snowy mountains and even a couple dragons. Finally, an additional screenshot focuses on the Will Arnett-voiced Dragon Lord, who appears to be the primary antagonist of the game.

Tina Tina’s Wonderlands is a direct sequel to the Borderlands 2 expansion Assault on Dragon Keep and sees fan-favorite demolitionist, Tiny Tina, designing and manipulating a fantasy world around the participating characters. Players will need to trek through the realm gathering loot, fighting enemies and conquering bosses in order to defeat the infamous Dragon Lord.

The game will be a full standalone spin-off title, featuring character customization and a variety of upgrade paths and abilities, including a “multiclass” system that differs from main Borderlands titles’ class-specific upgrades. While gameplay has not yet been revealed, it is expected to follow in the vein of other Borderlands games and was described as an “epic high fantasy take on the looter-shooter genre” by voice actor Ashley Burch, who plays Tiny Tina.

Developed by Gearbox Software and published by 2K Games, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands stars Andy Samberg, Wanda Sykes, Ashley Burch and Will Arnett, and is expected to release in early 2022.
