Sonic Colors: Ultimate Is Looking Good in New Screenshots | CBR

Sega has revealed a new batch of screenshots from Sonic Colors: Ultimate, the upcoming remaster of its critically-acclaimed 2010 release Sonic Colors.

Announced last month, Sonic Colors: Ultimate is set to launch for PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch this coming September. The remaster boasts enhanced visuals and better framerates in comparison to the original version, with the improved visuals in particular apparent in Sega’s screenshots.

In addition to the better visuals and framerates, Sonic Colors: Ultimate includes new features not present in the original game, including the “Jade Ghost” Wisp power up from Team Sonic Racing, which allows Sonic pass through solid objects, as well as Rival Rush, a game mode where players can race against Metal Sonic. Sonic Colors: Ultimate also features cosmetics inspired by last year’s live-action Sonic the Hedgehog feature film. Additionally, a two-episode tie-in animated miniseries titled Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps is slated for release sometime this year.

Developed by Sonic Team, Sonic Colors originally released for the Nintendo Wii in the United States on Nov. 16, 2010, with a Nintendo DS version developed by Dimps releasing the same day. Sonic Colors was met with mostly positive reviews upon launch, and is widely considered to be one of the best 3D Sonic games.
