Indiana Jones 5 Set Photos Reveal New Cast Member | CBR

Photos from the Indiana Jones 5 set revealed another cast member for the action/adventure sequel.

The images, which made their way onto Twitter, show Indiana Jones himself, Harrison Ford, shooting a scene with Toby Jones. In addition to playing Hydra scientist Dr. Arnim Zola in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Jones portrayed Claudius Templesmith in The Hunter Games movies and lent his voice to Dobby the house-elf in the Harry Potter films. He’s also known for his roles in such acclaimed dramas as the 2011 John le Carré adaptation Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

Along with confirming Jones’ involvement, these images show Ford with dots on his face — the implication being that he will undergo some digital de-aging for the scene being filmed here. It’s possible, but not confirmed, that Ford and Jones are shooting a flashback that will explain how their characters know one another, prior to them meeting in the film’s present-day.

Speaking of which, it’s rumored that Indiana Jones 5 will primarily take place in the late 1960s, during the space race between the U.S and Soviet Union. The plot is said to revolve around Indy doing battle with Mad Mikkelsen’s villain, a former Nazi scientist who’s been hired by the U.S. government to assist NASA in its efforts to reach the moon.

Recent photos and videos from the Indiana Jones 5 set confirmed Indy’s old enemies will have a presence in the film, with a train bearing Nazi symbols being spotted during its shoot at the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. Separate images revealed vehicles and trucks bearing the swastika, further suggesting the scenes being filmed are part of a flashback to either World War II or shortly after. A body double wearing a Harrison Ford mask also suffered a mishap while performing a stunt involving a motorcycle, causing a delay in production. However, although the motorbike was damaged in the accident, the stunt performer appeared to avoid any serious injuries and filming was able to quickly restart.

Directed by James Mangold and written by Mangold, Jez Butterworth and John-Henry Butterworth, Indiana Jones 5 stars Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Mads Mikkelsen, Thomas Kretschmann, Boyd Holbrook and Shaunette Renée Wilson. The film arrives in theaters July 29, 2022.
