WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Wonder Egg Priority, Episode 12, “An Unvanquished Warrior,” now streaming on Funimation, as well as discussion of suicide.
Wonder Egg Priority will end with an hour-long “Special Edition” episode on June 29.
CloverWorks confirmed that the upcoming episode will serve as the anime’s 12th and final episode, providing an end to the overall story, as reported by Anime News Network.
Wonder Egg Priority is produced by CloverWorks, Aniplex, Nippon Television and D.N. Dream Partners. The anime series is created and written by Shinji Nojima and directed by Shin Wakabayashi, with character designs by Saki Takahashi. The series debuted on Funimation on Jan. 12 and featured Kanata Aikawa as Ai Ohto, Tomori Kusunoki as Neiru Aonuma, Shuka Saitō as Rika Kawai and Hinake Yano as Momoe Sawaki.
Funimation started streaming the English dub of Wonder Egg Priority on March 31. The English-dubbed version of Wonder Egg Priority featured the voice talents of Mikaela Krantz, Dawn M. Bennett, Anairis Quiñones and Michelle Rojas.
The Wonder Egg Priority official Twitter first announced that a special episode would be released on June 29, prior to Episode 12’s airing. It was also confirmed at that time that the extra episode would go “beyond the story” and would also be included in Vol. 3 of the Blu-ray. While Episode 12 of Wonder Egg Priority didn’t wrap up all of the series’ loose ends, it did mark the end of Ai’s journey to discover the truth about Koito’s death.
The official synopsis for the Wonder Egg Priority series reads,
This is the story of Ai, an introverted girl whose fate is forever changed when she acquires a mysterious “Wonder Egg” from a deserted arcade. That night, her dreams blend into reality, and as other girls obtain their own Wonder Eggs, Ai discovers new friends–and the magic within herself.
The Special Edition finale of Wonder Egg Priority will premiere first in Japan on the Hulu and d Anime Store streaming services at midnight on June 30. It will then air on NTV on June 29, on Chukyo TV on June 30, on the Fukuoka Broadcasting System on July 1, on Miyagi TV on July 3, on Aomori TV on July 8, on Sapporo TV on July 18 and on Yomiuri TV sometime in July. It will also stream on Funimation.
