In a shonen anime like Naruto, power levels and the ability to fight tend to dictate the rules of the world. Naruto ended up becoming one of the strongest shinobi in the world by the end of his journey, but there were plenty of other people throughout the series that have their fair share of power.
While many of the powerful and dangerous figures in Naruto got more than enough screen time, there were several that only got to show off their power once. That’s not to say they were weak by any means, but these powerful characters just so happened to either be stopped after their first battle or only got to prove how strong they were a single time on screen.
10 Mu Was A Reanimated Tsuchikage Who Used Dust Release In The Fourth Great Ninja War
Mū was the second Tsuchikage and made his first appearance during the anime as a reanimation during the Fourth Great Ninja War. A person that can become a Kage of any of the nations is bound to be a powerful individual, and the same can be said of Mū. His use of Dust Release made him a formidable foe during his battle against the Allied Shinobi Forces. Half of his soul was sealed away while the other half ended up returning to the afterlife once the Edo Tensei was released.
9 The Third Raikage Was Only Defeated When Naruto Turned His Own Offensive Against Him
The Third Raikage was another dead shinobi summoned to the field of battle during the Fourth Great Ninja War. His ability and skill were the stuff of legend and the only scar on his body was revealed to be of his own doing. If left unchecked, he would have easily wiped a huge chunk of the Allied Shinobi Forces out. Naruto was only able to defeat him by turning his own offensive technique against him. This was the only time he was shown fighting, but it was an impressive showing.
8 Pakura’s Scorch Release Had Deadly Results In The War
Kabuto only went out of his way to reanimate powerful ninja, and Pakura was no exception. While her ordinary skills as a ninja were already top-notch enough to give her the title of the Hero of Sunagakure, she also had an incredibly potent kekkei genkai known as Scorch Release.
Using this ability, she could easily draw out the moisture in her foe’s bodies and mummify them on the spot. She carved a massive swath of death through the Allied Shinobi Forces before the released Edo Tensei finally stopped her.
7 Juzo Had To Be Taken Down By The Fourth Mizukage’s Tailed Beast Bomb
Jūzo was one of the ninja swordsmen of the mist before becoming a rogue ninja and joining the Akatsuki. The Akatsuki only accepted powerful members into their ranks, and being a ninja swordsman of the mist easily qualified Jūzo. He partnered with Itachi for a while, implying that he could provide support and stand beside one of the more powerful characters in the series. His one shown battle was against Yagura, the Fourth Mizukage who killed him with a tailed beast bomb.
6 Dark Naruto Disappeared After Naruto Accepted Him
Dark Naruto showed up very briefly to oppose Naruto in being able to master attaining Kurama’s chakra. For all intents and purposes, Dark Naruto had the abilities and skills of Naruto himself. While Naruto got stronger after their fight, he was still one of the strongest shinobi in the world at this time, and Dark Naruto was able to fight him to a standstill with no clear winner. Dark Naruto was only defeated and never to be seen again once Naruto accepted him instead of fighting him.
5 Danzo Had Many Tricks Up His Sleeve Against Sasuke
Danzo came very close to becoming the Sixth Hokage and was a fearsome shinobi both on and off the battlefield. During his battle with Sasuke, he proved to be a powerful adversary with a wide array of abilities like Wind style, summoning jutsu, and a whole arm covered in Sharingan that he could use for various purposes.
Not only was him being a candidate for Hokage a strong indicator of his abilities, but even Kakashi was shocked that Sasuke was able to defeat him despite Sasuke being an incredibly potent ninja himself.
4 Kaguya Had A Late Introduction As The Final Villain Of The Series
Kaguya was the “final boss” of Naruto Shippuden and seemed overwhelmingly powerful from the moment she appeared on screen. Even with incredible power-ups, Naruto and Sasuke struggled heavily in their attempts to stop her. As the progenitor of chakra, Kaguya had enormous reserves as well as plenty of jutsu she used to keep Team 7 on their toes. She’s easily one of the most powerful characters in the series, and it took all of Team 7 as well as Kakashi and Obito to finally defeat her.
3 Gengetsu Hozuki Was A Huge Threat In The War Despite Telling His Opponents How To Defeat Him
Gengetsu was the Second Mizukage and was brought back from the dead to fight the Allied Shinobi Alliance. Being a Kage, he was already immensely powerful and was considered one of the strongest ninja of his time. During his battle with the Allied Shinobi, he was able to easily defeat a large amount of them despite telling them his weaknesses and how to defeat him. His unique ability to create a watery oil allowed him to both deliver devastating offensive jutsu as well as protect him from being sealed away during his battle.
2 Rasa Was Taken Down By Gaara During The War
Rasa was Gaara’s father and the Fourth Kazekage. Also brought back from the dead, Rasa had a similar ability to Gaara to control sand. However, Rasa used golden sand which was both heavier and more dangerous than the regular sand that Gaara was able to control. He was easily one of the most powerful shinobi to ever exist and was only brought down by Gaara because of some additional support. Losing to Gaara was his only defeat in battle, as his death came about from trickery, not a contested fight.
1 Ginkaku & Kinkaku Were Reanimated For The War & Connected To The Sage Of Six Paths
Ginkaku and Kinkaku were a pair of brothers known for being immensely powerful. They already had an immense amount of power and chakra due to consuming some of Kurama’s flesh, but they were also related in some way to the Sage of Six Paths. This allowed them to use several of his treasured tools and they were an absolute menace on the battlefield. They were considered to be one of the biggest threats among all of the shinobi who were reanimated, and it was clear they would’ve done an extreme amount of damage if they weren’t stopped.
