The pirate world in One Piece is dangerous and fiercely competitive. Just when a pirate believes they have a crew strong enough to venture out to sea, they face the perils of The New World. The goal for every pirate is to venture out into The New World and make a name for themselves, but things become increasingly difficult as their journey continues.
Luffy and his crew learned the hard way that they were not strong enough to continue on as the Straw Hat Pirates and that they were nowhere near ready for The New World. Still, in the face of weakness and possible defeat, there are characters who’ve overcome their limitations and showed that they are stronger than they appear to be.

Before he joined the crew, Chopper was seen as a monster by the people in his village. With the help of his mentors Hiriluk and Kureha, he became a very skilled doctor. He proved that he wasn’t the monster people perceived him to be. He’s also incredibly intelligent and strong, showing that he’s more than an adorable teddy bear.

Franky not only survived but also reframed his body with spare parts from a ship. At first, Franky challenged Luffy, but upon finding a common enemy in the World Government, Franky fought alongside the Straw Hat pirates and displayed his mechanic skills. After training and gaining a desire to want to be useful to his crew, Usopp began creating impressive weapons and made use of his nearly perfect marksmanship.
