Set in the same world as Naruto, Boruto: Naruto Next Generations is the sequel to Masashi Kishimoto’s manga. The story focuses on Naruto Uzumaki’s son, Boruto Uzumaki, and his friends, and has slowly grown to become a favorite of all the Naruto fans. Thanks to compelling storytelling, Boruto has managed to tug at the hearts of the fans.
Just like its predecessor, Boruto is full of nerve-wracking moments and also has its fair share of shocking plot twists that has played a significant part in making this story as good as it is today.
10 Ao Returned As A Villain In Boruto
Ao was an important side-character in the Naruto series who was first introduced during the Five Kage Summit. From there onward, he played a crucial role in the Fourth Great Ninja War but was thought to have died in the war. Surprisingly, Ao returned in Boruto and was revealed to have been saved by the members of Kara, an evil organization, for whom he was working. Eventually, he died at the hands of Kashin Koji.
9 Kawaki Was Taken In By Naruto Uzumaki
When the Boruto series began, the prologue introduced a character named Kawaki who was implied to have either killed or incapacitated the Seventh Hokage, Naruto Uzumaki. As the story about Kawaki unraveled, fans found out that he bore immense love and respect for Naruto. Kawaki’s entire character revolves around protecting the Seventh Hokage, who took him in when nobody did. Given his first impression, his admiration for the Seventh Hokage was certainly shocking.
8 The Truth About The Otsutsuki Clan Was Finally Revealed
Kaguya Otsutsuki and her children were the very first Otsutsuki to be introduced in the Naruto series. However, as the series ended shortly after their introduction, this clan was barely expanded upon. In Boruto, the Otsutsuki clan was finally revealed to be alien parasites who feed on the lifeforce of planets to ascend and become stronger. They can also transfer their biological data to other people and be reborn in their bodies using “Karma.”
7 Naruto & Sasuke Lost To Jigen, The Leader Of Kara
Jigen was the leader of Kara and the biggest obstacle Naruto Uzumaki and Sasuke Uchiha had ever faced up to that point. Although in theory, Jigen should’ve been around the level of Momoshiki Otsutsuki, he turned out to be stronger.
Even when Naruto and Sasuke combined all of their power, they couldn’t defeat him in combat, which was shocking, to say the least.
6 Kaguya Otsutsuki Was The Partner Of Isshiki Otsutsuki
Kaguya Otsutsuki was the ultimate villain of the Naruto series and the final obstacle who stood in the way of the Shinobi Alliance in the Fourth Great Ninja War. Kaguya was known to be a celestial being who arrived on Earth and consumed a chakra fruit to gain tremendous power. In Boruto, it was shockingly revealed that she had a partner named Isshiki who she fell out with and attacked, leaving him at death’s door. Isshiki went on to become a major villain in the Boruto series.
5 Kashin Koji Was Revealed To Be A Clone Of Jiraiya
Kashin Koji was introduced along with the other Kara members in the Boruto series. However, out of all the members, only he raised the suspicion of all the fans. Koji knowing Konoha’s Jutsu and being connected to the village was very surprising and eventually, his true identity was revealed when he fought Jigen. Kashin Koji was revealed to be a clone of Jiraiya, one of the Legendary Sannin and the mentor of Naruto Uzumaki.
4 Isshiki Otsutsuki Was Killed By Naruto & Kawaki
Isshiki Otsutsuki was a tremendously powerful character, possibly even stronger than Kaguya Otsutsuki herself. Even when Naruto tapped into the power of Baryon Mode, he wasn’t able to finish him off in battle.
Thanks to Kawaki’s plan, Isshiki was fooled into giving Karma to a shadow clone, leaving him without a new body to regenerate into. In essence, Kawaki was able to trick Isshiki and defeat him when not even Naruto could.
3 Kurama Ended Up Dying In The Fight Against Isshiki Otsutsuki
Being the biggest threat that Naruto had faced in all his life, he made sure to go all out against Isshiki Otsutsuki and tapped into the power of Baryon Mode. With this, he gained enough power to overwhelm him in battle and was able to reduce his lifespan to a mere 5 minutes. The price to pay for his huge power-up was the life of his Tailed Beast, Kurama. At the end of the battle, Kurama died and left Naruto alone.
2 Sasuke’s Rinnegan Was Stabbed By Boruto Uzumaki
Just as Naruto was weakened by Kishimoto, Sasuke met the same fate, although in a different manner. After being exhausted following the fight against Isshiki, Sasuke failed to notice Boruto Uzumaki, possessed by Momoshiki Otsutsuki, sneaking up on him. The Otsutsuki quickly made sure to stab his eye with a kunai and take his biggest power from him, weakening him just as much as Naruto Uzumaki.
1 Code Was Stronger Than Even Jigen
Code was a member of Kara, the group led by Jigen, the vessel for Isshiki Otsutsuki. Just like any other Inner, Code was thought to be significantly weaker than Jigen, but after Isshiki’s death, it was revealed that Code was actually much stronger. Code was one of the many kids Jigen tried to give his Karma to. As Kawaki ended up becoming the true successor, he was deemed a failure yet through some anomaly, he received a “White Karma,” which made him even stronger than Jigen himself. Currently, Code is the main antagonist of the story.
