Animal Crossing New Horizons: 10 Best Seasonal Events (So Far)

Animal Crossing: New Horizons features many in-game seasonal events throughout the year, and many of them often resemble real-life holidays including Christmas (Toy Day), Easter (Bunny Day), and Thanksgiving (Turkey Day). Through these events, the player can celebrate the special occasions along with their fellow island residents.

Some events made fans groan in despair, while others were much more joyous occasions. Players found some events more entertaining than others due to the featured seasonal items, introduction of various characters, and the activities they could engage in during gameplay.

10 Bunny Day Made Many Players Sick Of Eggs Real Quick

Animal Crossing New Horizons Bunny Day

Bunny Day was the first major seasonal event introduced in New Horizons in April, much to the ire of many fans. This involved eggs coming from everywhere; the player could fish them out of the water, dig them out of the ground, and even pop out of the trees after shaking them or while trying to chop wood.

The developers even had to make a new update to decrease the number of eggs appearing, rather than increase it, due to player complaints. Additionally, many players despised or were creeped out by Zipper T. Bunny, likely due to the actual zipper displayed on his back.

9 International Museum Day, Though Repetitive, Was Easy For Players To Do

International Museum Day was introduced in May to bring awareness to museums throughout the world. Considering that many players could not go to museums or other public places due to the pandemic, this gave players a fun opportunity to explore the museum. Every day during the event, players could visit the museum and find all the stamp stations. They could then check in with Blathers to receive plaques that they could display in their homes.

Even though this event made it easy for players to get as many plaques as they wanted for keepsakes or selling, the lack of additional awards made some players a little disappointed.

8 May Day’s Event Was Short But Sweet

Rover greets players on the May Day Tour in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

The May Day event involved the player going to an exclusive island where they had run through the maze with limited supplies that they either found in the maze or had to make themselves. If they messed up somewhere and couldn’t proceed further, they would have to call Rescue Services and have them restart the maze.

If they succeeded, however, they could pick up as many as nine Bell Vouchers and also get a fun suitcase from Rover, who waited for them at the end of the maze. Players found this event to be fun overall. The only main downfall was that the player could only complete this maze once.

7 Halloween Was Fun But Forced Players To Grab All The Pieces In One Night

Halloween was significantly better received by players in October compared to Bunny Day. No eggs were falling from the sky, for example, and it was easy for players to grow pumpkins before the actual event occurred without them spreading all over the island. Additionally, they could buy candy during the month before the event, so they would have enough to give to fellow residents and to Jack, who visited the island and promised items in exchange for sweets.

The main downfall of this event, however, was that it only took place on the night of Halloween, rather than extending it throughout the entire day. This forced players to rush around the entire island to get all the required candies in time to get all possible items.

6 Toy Day Let Players Enjoy Gift-Giving To The Fullest

Animal Crossing: New Horizons villagers celebrate Toy Day

Toy Day was celebrated in-game during Christmas in real life. This involved Jingle the reindeer visiting the island for the day. Players had to craft wrapping paper for Jingle so he could finish wrapping presents, before getting to assist him in delivering presents to all of the villagers in town. Afterward, players were rewarded with gifts from other villagers and DIY recipes from Jingle.

Additionally, this event left one more surprise for players. If they hung stockings on the wall, the players would receive an extra gift the next day: Jingle’s own photo to frame on their wall. Also, during the entire season, players could buy Christmas-themed outfits, Santa suits included.

5 Nature Day Introduced Leif To Everyone

Animal Crossing New Horizons Nature Day Leif

Nature Day takes place from April 23rd to May 4th. During the event, players earn extra Nook Miles for participating in nature-related activities. This includes planting new trees, watering flowers, or weeding the area around them. After completing a Nature Day-related activity for the first time, the gets a Hedge DIY recipe.

When Nature Day first occurred in the game, it also introduced Leif, who eventually became an occasional island visitor like Celeste, Redd, and other characters. During the event, Leif would show up more often with his plants and shrubs, encouraging players to buy some and spruce up their island. Players who experienced Nature Day for the first time enjoyed Leif’s presence as well as the extra Nook Miles.

4 Turkey Day Was Fun But Finding Ingredients Required Luck

Turkey Day appeared to celebrate Thanksgiving. Franklin, a turkey who is also a chef, visited the island to create a scrumptious meal for everyone with many dishes that rivaled real-life chefs. However, it would be up to the player to help source the ingredients on their own island in exchange for Turkey Day-themed DIY recipes.

Players found themselves scrambling to find all the required ingredients before the clock struck midnight. However, they had more time to do so compared to Halloween, where the event fully took place in the evening hours alone.

3 Wedding Season Was Endearing & Allowed For Great Photo Sessions

Many fans enjoyed Wedding Season when it was introduced in June. This event involved heading to Harv’s Island and taking photos for two llamas named Reese and Cyrus, who booked the entire photography studio to celebrate their wedding anniversary. By following their requests and decorating the room for the ceremony when visiting the room every day, the player can obtain Heart Crystals to trade in for items of their own, including chairs, rugs, and even a pipe organ. This also includes getting their own wedding-themed outfits as well.

Players found this to be one of the most fun seasonal events, due to the constant chances for customization. Some players even deviated from the requests and made their own hellish versions of the wedding at the risk of earning fewer Heart Crystals, just for the fun of it.

2 Festivale Ruffled Feathers But In A Good Way

Pavé dances at Festivale in Animal Crossing: New Horizons

Festivale shook things up when Pavé visited the island for the day. To gain all of the items, players had to catch different-colored feathers floating around the island to trade in for items, including the iconic Festivale Float. Every time the trade occurred, Pavé would also show off a wondrous dance routine as well.

There were also new reactions added in the game so the player themselves could also dance along to the joy and wonders of Festivale. Players could also buy their own Festivale-themed outfits, including suits, dresses, and tiaras.

1 The Summer Fireworks Show Lit Up The Island With Joy

Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Fireworks

The summer fireworks show happened on Sunday nights every week, during the entire month of August. During this time, players could customize fireworks beforehand so they could see them light up the sky later that night.

They additionally had access to buy sparklers, mini-fireworks, and other fun accessories to play with in-game. Redd also made an appearance by running a raffle during the festivities; every 500 bells spent gave the player a chance to win a special item, ranging from balloons to more sparklers.
