No Man’s Sky: How To Get the Normandy From Mass Effect | CBR

The developers of No Man’s Sky kept a pretty big secret for the end reward of the second expedition event. Nobody could have predicted this prize: the Normandy SR1 prototype from Mass Effect. This is an incredible reward for finishing the expedition, but it’s only available until May 31. So, here’s how to get the Normandy as quickly as possible.

If you haven’t started the expedition yet, you need to start a new game in either single player or multiplayer, and specify it as a community expedition. You’ll start off in a similar scenario to the traditional save, where you’re marooned on a planet and have to find and repair your ship. Once you escape, you’ll notice all of the milestones that the expedition wants you to complete. You don’t have to finish the majority of these milestones to get the Normandy, just those through phase five.

Each phase has a rendezvous milestone that directs you to the next. This all culminates the star system that holds the rendezvous for phase five. You’ll be directed to a location on a planet that you’ll need to track down yourself. This is done by using the target sweep mode on your visual scanner. This will eventually lead you to a portal ruin that you need to scan.

Once you’ve reached the fifth rendezvous, you’ll be rewarded with a tool called an Historiographical Dosimeter which is crucial for the next milestone. You need to use the Dosimeter when interacting with an ancient ruin or monolith that collects data for Nada, the leader of the Anomaly. This has to be done three times, but the ruins can be found by purchasing maps from a cartographer on any space station.

Once this is done, you need to summon and enter the Anomaly hub and purchase the Myth Beacon from the Quicksilver Synthesis Companion on the right side of the hangar area. The Beacon costs eighty Quicksilver. If you don’t have enough, you can use the Historiographical Dosimeter on some more ruins, as each time you do so you’re rewarded with fifteen Quicksilver. Or, you can accept a multiplayer quest from the Nexus in the center of the Anomaly, some of which will reward you with Quicksilver too.

When you finally acquire the Myth Beacon, you’ll be directed to a far-off star system that’ll require a few long jumps. It’s recommended to use a freighter when traveling to the intended system, as its hyperdrive has greater range and efficiency. When you reach the destination, you’ll be directed to a location on a planet where you need to activate the Beacon. Using the target sweep is recommended, but instead of a portal, you’ll be looking for a Boundary Failure structure.

After finding it, go into your inventory and activate the Myth Beacon. A few moments later, the Normandy will arrive for a dramatic flyby in the planet’s atmosphere. You’ll need to catch up to the Normandy using your starship and answer a hail from its communicator, which will then give you the option of adding the Normandy to your fleet.

In addition to looking amazing, the SSV Normandy SR1 is an S-class deep scout frigate that you can command to go on long range expeditions. Its high stats in both combat and exploration make it perfect for either mission type. And yes, the Normandy can be added to your other loaded saves. You just need to return to the Anomaly and speak with the Quicksilver merchant, who’ll offer you rewards for completing the expedition.
