Amazon’s recent hit series Invincible provides an interesting, albeit gory, take on superheroes and what it means to become one. Apparently, all someone needs is an epic set of powers and a cool costume to get them started.
In My Hero Academia, there’s a far more complex but necessary procedure where potential heroes need to pass the Hero Exam in order to get their Provisional Hero License before they can fight crime. They need to prove that they are capable of going up against mighty threats while responsibly ensuring the safety of civilians. Some heroes from Invincible would make the cut but some would undoubtedly fail.
10 PASS: Omni-Man Plays the Part of A Hero Too Well
Say what you want about him but no one can deny that Omni-Man knows how to play the part of a hero. He’s got the strength and speed to tackle any obstacle in his way and is nearly impossible to take down. He knows how to pull his punches and show enough restraint when fighting in public. While he may not care about civilians, he can put a convincing front and use it to show he’s good with handling survivors. The real question is: How long will it take before he gets his license revoked?
9 FAIL: Dupli-Kate Is Just Too Wasteful
Dupli-Kate’s experience on the Teen Team should make her more qualified to be a hero but it’s unlikely her powers will be enough to pass the exam. For starters, her powers do not amplify her abilities meaning her copies aren’t any stronger than she is. She’ll also be going up against extremely powerful combatants that can easily defeat her and her copies.
Most importantly, she is extremely wasteful with her clones. Few of them rarely survive the battles she enters, which might not look good when valuing human life is a priority. Kate stands a better chance if she can get organized and learn to pull herself together.
8 PASS: Black Samson Is Tough But Responsible
While he may not be the friendliest face on the newest line-up for the Guardians of the Globe, Black Samson might be the most qualified to pass the Hero Exam. Whether he has his powers or needs a special suit, he has the might to go toe-to-toe with other combatants.
Samson also focuses on the big picture and prioritizes saving civilians over kicking butt, which will come in handy during later portions of the exam. If he finds himself in a leadership position, he can organize his team to spread out and help rookies in need of leadership. The only issue he needs to work on might be his people skills.
7 FAIL: Rex Splode Has A Short Fuse
There are plenty of reasons why Rex Splode won’t be passing the Hero Exam anytime soon but here are the main reasons. For starters, it is incredibly easy to provoke him into making reckless decisions, much like another explosive hero. He’s also probably going to spend more time arguing with the fake civilians, chastising them than actually saving any of them. Ignoring that, he also carries a limited amount of ammo that he can charge up into bombs and is bound to run out. His best chance will be to take remedial courses.
6 PASS: Robot Is the Best Leader A Team Could Ask For
It’s a little unfair to have Robot partake in the test, but it’s not like he would have a fighting chance if he went in person. What matters is that Robot’s robots can showcase incredible ingenuity and brilliance in the heat of battle.

He can easily formulate plans to individually incapacitate his competition and analyze them for weaknesses. He can also concoct escape routes to rescue survivors and instruct teammates in the latter half. All that’s left is for him to find a way to earn some respect from his teammates.
5 FAIL: Monster Girl Relies Too Much On Brute Strength
For the record, Monster Girl isn’t going to fail because she looks like a little girl despite being an adult. It has to do with the fact that her monster form, while powerful, is going to cause her a lot of problems. In that form, she is a larger target and will likely be ganged up on in the beginning. Should she manage to circumvent that, Monster Girl will have trouble saving civilians without intimidating or harming them.
Her biggest weakness is that she relies too much on brute strength instead of strategy or combat techniques. Maybe she can take the same remedial courses as Rex or get Robot to give her some pointers.
4 PASS: Shrinking Rae Is An Overlooked Champion
Shrinking Rae may be one of the more forgettable characters from season one, but that doesn’t mean her powers aren’t impressive. She could easily make it through the first half by staying small and stealthily tagging out her competition.
When it comes to rescuing civilians, she could easily shrink and access hard-to-reach spaces people may be trapped in. As for her fighting, just remember that she can shrink down and mess around with people’s heads. And not a psychological way.
3 FAIL: Rick Sheridan Stills Need To Reboot
What D.A. Sinclair did to Rick Sheridan was atrocious, but making him a cyborg opened up the possibility of making him a hero. His new mechanically-enhanced body was capable of taking on Invincible and his fellow test subjects. What’s stopping him from passing though is that it’s still unclear if he will recover from his incident psychologically. Even if he does, he will need to go through some training unless he wants to be treated like a machine. For his safety (and the other exam takers), he should hold off for now.
2 PASS: Atom Eve Could Be The Next Best Hero
If anyone on this list has a chance of passing this exam with flying colors, it’s Atom Eve. With her powers, it would be a cinch to shield herself and knock her opponents down long enough to tag them out. If she can revitalize soil and stop forest fires, Eve can handle any scenario involving rescuing civilians and getting them out of sticky situations. Should she need to go on the offensive, her energy projection abilities make her a formidable opponent. She’s not just going to pass, she might just end up surpassing Omni-Man as the world’s greatest hero.
1 FAIL: Invincible Has A Lot of Heart But No Training
His heart might be in the right place, but Invincible is far from ready to take the Hero Exam, let alone don a stylish, signature super suit. He has the least amount of training compared to everyone on this list and only started when he got his powers mere months ago. Most of the fights end with Mark battered and bloody and despite his best efforts, he doesn’t have the best track record with saving civilians. With more training and practice, he could pass, but he’s far from ready to instill hope in others and fight the forces of evil. He may be the son of the world’s greatest hero and inherited his Vultrimite abilities, but Invincible isn’t hero material yet.
