The Great North is continuing its Alaskan adventures and hijinks.
Ahead of its Season 2 premiere, Fox renewed the animated series for a Season 3. The Great North is the latest addition to the network’s animation domination block on Sunday nights that focuses on creating family-friendly animated adventures with situational comedy for all ages with programs like Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Family Guy and Bless the Harts.
The Great North centers its wacky adventures on the Tobin family being raised by single dad Beef Tobin (Nick Offerman) in Lone Moose, Alaska. Tasked with looking after his three sons Wolf (Will Forte), Ham (Paul Rust), Moon (Aparna Nancherla) and his sixteen-year-old daughter Judy (Jenny Slate). Now that his eldest Wolf is engaged and beginning a family with his fiancee Honeybee (Dulcé Sloan), Beef fears that the family won’t quite be the same.
Season 1 of the animated series followed Beef slowly letting go of Wolf — at least to live in the guest house with Honeybee — as the rest of his children surprise, frustrate and challenge him to grow as they do. Although the show is based on a father recovering from his wife leaving him, the series isn’t short on antics and includes the surprise voice acting of Alanis Morrissette as Judy’s imaginary best friend who lives amongst the Northern Lights.
“FOX believes it’s a time for series that offer hope and to speak to American audiences with themes of reinvention and second chances,” Charlie Collier, CEO, FOX Entertainment stated about the recent renewal decisions for its network.
While Fox’s fellow animated series Bob’s Burgers, The Simpsons, Family Guy, Duncanville (that airs on Fox on Monday nights) were all renewed, Bless the Harts was unfortunately canceled after its second season on the network. However, Fox announced that Rick and Morty creator Dan Harmon is launching an all-new animated series titled Krapopolis, which is the first animated series curated on the blockchain.
Created by Wendy Molyneux, Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin and Minty Lewis, who all also serve as executive producers alongside Loren Loren Bouchard, The Great North stars Nick Offerman, Jenny Slate, Megan Mullally, Will Forte, Aparna Nancherla, Paul Rust, Dulcé Sloan and Alanis Morrissette. New episodes premiere Sunday at 8:30 p.m. ET on Fox.
