Behind-the-scenes footage showcases just how US Agent was able to perform that mid-air takedown on Falcon in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
The footage was shared on Aaron Toney’s Instagram, providing a glimpse into the secrets behind the stunt. The moment being spotlighted occurred in Episode 5 “Truth,” following Sam Wilson’s unsuccessful attempt to talk John Walker out of a fight. Not only did the post provide the on-set filming of the moment Walker took down Falcon, but also some practice footage from back when it was being tested.

“Some [BTS] of a nice little thumber that was done in the Cap, Bucky, Falcon fight on [The Falcon and the Winter Soldier],” Toney wrote. “More about execution of this setup later but just wanted to shout out to [David Charles Warren III] who tested just about every gag I ended up doing and was always down to help me with my tricking. You helped make Falcon the best he could be too lil bro. Thank you.” Warren was also responsible for a variety of other stunts performed in the show, including Sam’s acrobatic flip and shield catch in the same episode’s training montage.
Toney continued to shout out those responsible for the stunt being brought to life. “As always the stellar work of master [Dave Macomber] running the ship while our amazing rigging team lead by [Michael Hugghins] and [Ralf Koch] make sure things are tip top and safe. And [Justin Eaton] is always there with the positive contact love. Love my #squad.”
Toney is a stunt performer who worked on a variety of Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) films, in addition to being the assistant fight coordinator on Guardians of the Galaxy. His stunt work has seen him don various superhero mantles. Toney has most regularly appeared as Anthony Mackie’s stunt double throughout all his MCU appearances. Additionally, he has been the stunt double for Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War and Black Panther, as well as Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger.
