The Union Gets Its Powers

Brainwave Betrays the Union – and He’s Gunning for Utopian
At the end of the premiere of Jupiter’s Legacy, Brandon Sampson/Paragon kills what he thinks at the time is Blackstar in order to save his father, the Utopian. However, it’s soon revealed that this version of Blackstar is actually a clone, which launches an investigation to figure out just who made the clone. Inside the clone Blackstar’s mind, Walter Sampson/Brainwave fights a version of George Hutchence/Skyfox, making it seem as if that villain is responsible for the clone. Brainwave even claims as much to Grace Sampson/Lady Liberty.
However, at the end of the episode, Brainwave ends up alone with his daughter Raikou, who aided in the invasion of Blackstar’s mind. As Raikou reveals, Brainwave is actually responsible for the clone Blackstar and is framing Skyfox. Further, Brainwave released the real Blackstar, knowing that it would force him into a confrontation with Brandon and Utopian. Brainwave’s actual master plan is to turn Brandon against his father.

Brainwave’s plan was successful, as Utopian hesitated to kill Blackstar when the villain made clear that he would murder Brandon. This means that Brandon’s relationship with his father is weak, and thus it’s entirely possible that he will indeed turn on Utopian. In order to keep his plan a secret, Brainwave murders Raikou, thus setting him up as the ultimate villain of Jupiter’s Legacy.
As for just why Brainwave wants to take down Utopian, Walter has always had some pretty massive ideological differences with his brothers. For his part, Brainwave believes that superheroes should take a more active role in the world’s events and adapt to the times, while Utopian wants to keep the Union in line with a Golden Age version of heroics.
Hutch & Chloe Set Out Looking For Skyfox
Over the course of Jupiter’s Legacy Season 1, Hutch and Chloe Sampson become romantically involved. Towards the end of Season 1, Hutch attempts to steal a power source from a highly secure lock-up and nearly gets beaten, as the room is without oxygen, thus depriving him of the ability to command his Power Rod. Chloe, though, busts in and saves him, filling the room with oxygen at the same time.
Later, the two go back to Hutch’s place and he shows her the inside of his secret workshop. From there, Hutch reveals that he wants to use the power source to find his father — Skyfox — but just why isn’t totally clear. Hutch certainly feels abandoned by his father, so it’s entirely possible he may want revenge. However, there’s also a chance Hutch simply wants to confront the man that abandoned him.
Netflix’s Jupiter’s Legacy stars Josh Duhamel as The Utopian, Ben Daniels as Brainwave, Leslie Bibb as Lady Liberty, Elena Kampouris as Chloe Sampson, Andrew Horton as Brandon Sampson, Mike Wade as The Flare, Anna Akana as Raikou and Matt Lanter as Skyfox. Season 1 is available on Netflix now.
