One Piece: Luffy’s 10 Best Uses Of Haki | CBR

The concept of Haki was properly introduced in One Piece right before the two-year time skip when Rayleigh started training Luffy in the ways of this power. Simply put, Haki is a power that allows anyone who wields to manifest their spirit and use it in extraordinary ways. For example, it can be used to improve sensory perception, attack or defend against enemies, or overwhelm others.

After mastering the basics of Haki, Luffy has gone on to make great use of this power in the story and has had several moments where his Haki usage has shone.

10 When Luffy Took Down A Pacifista In One Blow

Luffy returned to Sabaody Archipelago after completing his training in order to reunite with his crew and sail to the New World. With the Navy expecting their arrival, the island was laden with soldiers and Pacifista who were partly responsible for defeating the crew before the time skip.

To showcase his new abilities, Luffy manages to take down one of them with a single Haki-enhanced punch.

9 When Luffy Knocked Out 50,000 Fishmen On Fishman Island

The Fishman Island arc saw Luffy take on his first challenge after the time skip in Hody Jones and his crew. At his disposal were 100,000 Fishmen ready to attack Luffy. In an incredible demonstration of how far he’d come after the time skip, Luffy used his Conqueror’s Haki to knock out 50,000 of them without even lifting a finger.

Even someone as strong as Hody couldn’t help but feel the intensity of Luffy’s willpower. Since then, Luffy’s Conqueror’s Haki has become several times stronger.

8 When Luffy Defeated Caesar Clown, A Logia User, With His Armament Haki

In One Piece‘s Punk Hazard arc, Luffy came face to face with Caesar Clown, the main antagonist of the arc who was responsible for doing vile experiments on children.

Caesar’s biggest power was his Logia type Devil Fruit that allowed him to create, manipulate, and become gas at will. With his Armament Haki, Luffy easily bypassed his defenses and defeated him with a Grizzly Magnum.

7 When Luffy Used The Power Of Gear Fourth: Bounceman To Beat Doflamingo

Gear Fourth is the strongest form that Luffy has up his sleeve right now and it relies heavily on the usage of Haki. To achieve this form, Luffy blows air into his muscles and uses Haki to contain it to increase the tension.

This power proved to be strong enough to defeat Doflamingo without any significant trouble whatsoever. The final move, called the King Kong Gun, saw Luffy release a powerful attack to send Doflamingo crashing into the ground.

6 When Luffy Used Tankman To Defeat General Cracker

Another form of Gear Fourth, Tankman was used against General Cracker of the Big Mom Pirates, a man with a bounty of 860 million berries on his head.

Even though Cracker had incredibly powerful Haki himself, Luffy’s Gear Fourth and Haki enabled him to break through it effortlessly. Eventually, the power of Tankman’s Haki was used to send Cracker flying all the way to Sweet City.

5 When Luffy Saw The Future Against Katakuri & Defeated Him

Luffy’s fight against Charlotte Katakuri was perhaps his hardest test until that point in the story. Not only did this fight test his physical strength but also his mental strength. Luffy’s usage of Observation Haki was key in this fight and he managed to take it to the next level by observing Katakuri.

By the end of the fight, his Observation Haki was rivaling Katakuri’s, and that played a massive role in his victory over the Sweet Commander.

4 When Luffy Developed Snakeman To Counter High-level Observation Haki

Luffy’s usage of Future Sight wasn’t the only thing that allowed him to win over Katakuri. It was the combination of his Future Sight and Snakeman, a new form of Gear Fourth that allowed him to use his speed to the maximum.

The uniqueness of Gear Fourth allowed Luffy to combine his Devil Fruit with his Haki, and the tension created from compression boosted his speed to give even Katakuri trouble.

3 When Luffy Broke The Explosive Neck Rings In Wano Country Arc

Luffy using Ryou

After losing to Kaido, Luffy was thrown in Udon prison where Queen was tasked with breaking down his indomitable spirit. In an event called the Sumo Inferno, Luffy was forced to fight for his life and protect Hyougoro at the same time, all the while wearing explosive neck rings.

By tapping into the power of Ryou, he managed to destroy the neck rings from the inside and ultimately went on to take over Udon.

2 When Luffy Hurt Kaido With Ryou On The Rooftop

Luffy Vs Kaido

Luffy and Kaido finally came face-to-face for their final fight on the rooftop of the Onigashima castle. After having learned Ryou to damage others from the inside, Luffy was able to hurt Kaido with simple Haki-based attacks.

Seeing Kin’emon and the scabbards injured, Luffy unleashed his fury on Kaido with a Red Roc, making him bleed and putting him off his feet before proceeding to unleash the fury of Gear Fourth on him.

1 When Luffy Knocked Kaido Down With Conqueror’s Haki

After Kaido entered his hybrid form, the fight tipped in his favor and Luffy was knocked out with his Ragnaraku easily. It was at this moment, interestingly, that Luffy figured out the trick behind using Conqueror’s Haki to its maximum effect.

By imbuing his attacks with Conqueror’s Haki, Luffy was easily able to damage Kaido and leave serious injuries. This is, by far, his greatest Haki feat in the story.
