The Flash Fans Should Brace for an Unhappy Ending to Frost’s Story

On The Flash‘s upcoming episode “The People v. Killer Frost,” Frost gets ready to face the misdeeds of her past. However, actor Danielle Panabaker warns that Frost’s trial may result in her paying a heavier price than fans might expect.

“I’m really glad that they’re telling this storyline,” Panabaker told TVLine. “I think it’s important that Frost is held accountable for the things she did. And I know she’s tried to do a lot of good things to outweigh the bad things that she’s done. But I loved reading this script and I loved bringing it to life.”

Panabaker said that character testimony at Frost’s trial from her friends may not be enough to save her. “I think that some people will vouch for Frost, but I don’t know that that’s how the law works,” she explained. “And we also have this new character of Kramer, who has a lot of power as well. And so … I don’t know that this story is going to have the happy ending that some people would like.”

Kristin Kramer (Carmen Moore) from the Governor’s Municipal Logistics Commission came on the scene a few episodes ago, fixated on arresting Frost for murders that actually were committed by new villain Chillblaine. Panabaker said Caitlin Snow, Frost’s sister of sorts, is “incredibly invested” in getting Frost out of this jam.

“And I think it’s a nice sort of turn of events for the two of them. Because, certainly over the last couple of seasons we’ve seen Frost at times be a little bit more irrational and sort of act without thinking,” Panabaker said. “And now in this episode it’s sort of reversed and Caitlin becomes a little bit more emotional and irrational and makes choices that maybe aren’t typically in line with her character. So it was fun to see them get to switch roles. Which I think is authentic to relationships because, you know, we take turns being either the strong one or the one who’s struggling.”

The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh. The series returns from hiatus Tuesday, May 4 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
