Falcon and Winter Soldier Isaiah Bradley Scenes Were Shot a Block from MLK’s Birthplace

One of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s most important characters, Isaiah Bradley, had all of his scenes filmed near the birthplace of an American civil rights legend and activist.

The Marvel Studios subreddit posted a map of Isaiah Bradley’s house in the Marvel series, which is located at 66 Hogue Street NE in Atlanta, Georgia — a few blocks from the birthplace of Martin Luther King Jr. While it was serendipitous, showrunner Malcolm Spellman wasn’t aware of this fact during filming. “I did not know that,” he told Inverse. “There you go. Wow. You’d have to ask Kari [Skogland, the director] if that was deliberate or not.”

He added, “That’s the great thing about having a filmmaker like Kari is she’s going to want to milk every single moment she can. I don’t know what decision was on that house though.”

In The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Isaiah was revealed to be a part of a secret American experiment during the Korean War. The U.S. government tested out the Super Soldier Serum on him and other Black soldiers within his platoon, despite the lethal side effects. Later, Isaiah was deployed to fight the Winter Soldier in Goyang. However, he was arrested for liberating his fellow super-soldiers from a POW camp. Faking his own death, Bradley choice to live a quiet life in Atlanta until Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes tracked him down.

Spellman previously discussed the importance of Isaiah in the Marvel series, saying that Isaiah’s approach to telling the truth was crucial in confronting the show’s heavier themes. He also said he would be open to exploring Isaiah’s past in a prequel series if asked.

Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. The entire first season is available to stream on Disney+.
