By now, the MCU has stocked up its storyline with many stellar Marvel Comics heroes, who come in all shapes, sizes and backgrounds. The first to appear were the Incredible Hulk and Iron Man, but soon enough, more diverse heroes such as the tree-like Groot, King T’Challa/Black Panther, Ant-Man, and far more showed up, too.
It can safely be said that all of the MCU’s superheroes are ready and willing to save the day and fight the forces of evil to the finish. But how neat and careful are they when they fight bad guys in the middle of a city or crowded street? Some heroes take great pains to avoid collateral damage, while others don’t mind it or even enjoy the carnage around them.
10 Rocket Raccoon Loves To Blow Things Up
Many members of the Guardians of the Galaxy crew are lovable rogues and misfits, and they rarely fight to defend their home planets or hometowns. Instead, they travel all over the universe to go on misadventures, and they don’t mind blowing up the scenery on some weird backwater planet.
Rocket Raccoon is a good example of this, who favors mayhem and trickery during any mission. Besides, Rocket is rather bitter about his lot in life, and he sees collateral damage as a way to get back at the world that made him. At least, that’s a plausible theory.
9 The Incredible Hulk Could Also Be Known As The Green Destroyer
The Incredible Hulk may be the very definition of a hero who cares not one bit about collateral damage during a good fight. Once Bruce Banner the scientist becomes big and green, his mission is to smash everything that gets in his way, and he racks up property damage in the hundreds of millions of dollars.
Fortunately, the Hulk has a good heart and will cause all this mayhem to destroy true evil and preserve peace and justice in the world, but in so doing, he creates countless rubble piles and heaps of wrecked cars. It’s easy to tell when the Hulk has been around lately.
8 The Mighty Thor Is A Bit Reckless
Thor is the crown prince of Asgard, and he is noted for having many strengths and faults that balance each other nicely. He is brave but hard-headed, powerful but reckless, kind but overbearing at times. It may not be surprising to hear that he’s willing to cause extensive collateral damage while fighting to save the world.
Thor might be a little more careful while fighting in his beloved homeland of Asgard, but otherwise, Thor will use his devastating hammer swings and his explosive, area-of-effect lightning powers to smite evil, regardless of what he destroys along the way. He has little attachment to Earth except for associates such as Jane Foster, his lover.
7 Ant-Man Uses The World Around Him As Tools
For the most part, Scott Lang/Ant-Man is too tiny to cause any collateral damage, and some of his missions involve stealth and robbery rather than carnage and combat. During such operations, he causes almost no collateral damage, but some battles are of a different nature.
During the fight at the Liepzig airport, Ant-Man gladly tore the wing off an airplane to attack Iron Man’s team in his giant form, and he would do it again if he had to. He also fell right over and caused even more destruction, and he didn’t feel bad about it at all.
6 Peter Quill Will Use Explosives As A Distraction
In some regards, Peter Quill/Star-Lord is in a similar position as Ant-Man. By default, Star-Lord is a stealthy rogue who would rather steal treasures and run off with them rather than fight to the death, but he’s willing to cause some damage along the way if he must.
Star-Lord is adept at stealth, but if he’s cornered or if his foe can’t be defeated by stealth, he will happily distract his enemies by blowing up the terrain, and he has little attachment to the worlds he visits during his adventures. Who cares if some alien town gets blown up, if it means Star-Lord can escape with his life?
5 Iron Man Is Known For Flinging Missiles & Lasers Everywhere
To an extent, Tony Stark might care about collateral damage, since he is greatly attached to the Earth and its many cities and industries. He’s not like Star-Lord, wandering freely in the expansive universe. But then again, he can be quite chaotic in battle.
As Iron Man, Tony is perfectly willing to blow anything and everything up to destroy his enemies, such as the Chitauri aliens or the robotic drones that Vanko sent against him. Besides, he’s fabulously wealthy; he can just pay off the collateral damage anyway.
4 Drax The Destroyer Is A Miniature Hulk
Drax the Destroyer is like a somewhat tamer version of the Hulk in the MCU. He’s not as big or as strong, but wild melee combat is certainly his style for the most part. He also likes to use two knives in battle, or use any variety of high-tech rifles and missile launchers that Star-Lord and Gamora can provide him with.
True to his name, Drax will shoot first and ask questions never, and he thinks that combat is great fun as long as he’s winning. Like the other Guardians, he almost never has an attachment to the places he visits, so it’s no big deal to blow up everything in sight.
3 Bucky Barnes Has Bigger Concerns Than Propety Damage
Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, is a tricky case. He was once Steve Rogers’ friend, until he was captured and became the brainwashed Winter Soldier, a weapon for the Soviet Union. But the real Bucky was still in there, and Steve Rogers went to great lengths to bring him back to the heroes’ side.
Now, Bucky is a proper soldier for good, and he helped defend Wakanda’s borders from Thanos’ army. However, Bucky has been through a lot, and minimizing collateral damage is the last thing on his mind. He’ll do whatever it takes to win, even collapsing buildings on his enemies or blowing up a bridge if it harms his enemies somehow. In theory, he would do those things and more.
2 Vision Can Be Quite Destructive When He Wants To Be
Tony Stark’s AI, named JARVIS, eventually gained its own body. In fact, that body was once intended for Ultron, but now that body belongs to the hero known as Vision. And while Vision is noble, he is quite destructive when he wants to be.
Despite supporting the Sokovia Accords, Vision is perfectly willing to cause some collateral damage during a fight, such as when he used his forehead beam during the battle for the Liepzig airport. He is also willing to throw his enemies right into walls or cars, and bust up the scenery in the process.
1 Yondu’s Style Isn’t Geared Towards Being Careful
Yondu is a rather tricky case, just like Bucky Barnes. He was introduced as a rogue third party, bordering on villainy, in the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, especially since he wanted the Infinity Stone orb to himself. But he is not truly evil, despite some of his bad decisions.
Yondu became a proper hero during the second Guardians movie, and he gave his life for Peter’s sake. Along the way, Yondu proved that he will use any destructive means to wipe out his enemies with that arrow, such as when he tore up his own ship to fight the traitorous Ravagers who were loyal to Taser-Face. Explosions are his style, it turns out.
