Spoiler warning: The Final chapter of Attack On Titan will be discussed at length.
For eleven years and seven months, Hajime Isayama has worked hard to create one of the best manga ever made, Attack on Titan. Now that the series is finally over, the questions that fans had for years have either been answered or are now left for fan interpretation as they weren’t directly addressed.
However, even though the last chapter has released, there are many fans that haven’t read it yet, whether it be due to them waiting for the anime or that they simply aren’t ready for this masterpiece to end. If they still want their most important questions to be answered, or if anyone that did read the ending wants to be reminded of something they may have forgotten about since so much happened, here are the answers to ten burning questions.
10 Does Levi Die? He Survives But Is Injured
Since before he was even introduced, the people in Paradis referred to Levi as “humanity’s strongest soldier” and fans have loved him for how powerful he is. The fights he has been in have been a thrill to watch and he has survived everything that has been thrown at him.
Even at the end of the manga, Levi is still alive, though he is no longer in any condition to fight as he is now in a wheelchair and lost a couple of his fingers, making it harder for him to hold a weapon. Rather than being a fighter, Levi now spends his time with Gabi, Falco, and Onyankopon.
9 Did Eren Kill Everyone Outside Of Paradis? He Gets Close To Succeeding But Is Stopped
Like Levi, Eren has always been a fighter. However, rather than wanting to kill all of the titans like he did in the beginning of the manga, he turned to wanting to kill humans that threatened Paradis. When he started The Rumbling, this goal became possible and split the fanbase into two groups: those that supported Eren and those that supported the main characters that fought against him, such as Mikasa, Reiner, and Armin.
Eren came very close to achieving his goal, slaughtering 80% of the people outside of the walls. If he hadn’t been stopped by the soldiers and warriors, however, he would have gone all the way as this was actually a backup plan to ending the discrimination Eldians faced and giving his friends better lives.
8 Do The Survey Corps Return To Paradis? Yes, They Are Able To Return
The battle between Eren and his old friends took place in Fort Salta, which is very far from Paradis. Because of this, most of the members in the Survey Corps and Warrior Unit didn’t return right away, with Mikasa being the exception.
However, three years later, they decided to go there to tell Eren’s followers their side of the story, hoping to have the island they grew up in treat the rest of the world peacefully. Though it isn’t confirmed, they had probably lived in Marley during the three years prior to them setting sail to go back home.
7 Does Annie Reunite With Her Father? Yes, They Are Able To Reunite
Fans had been waiting for Annie to reunite with her father for a very long time. Growing up, she didn’t like him at all as he only treated her as a warrior that would make him an honorary Marleyan.
However, when she went to Paradis, he apologized for everything and told her that all he wanted was for her to come back to him. Because of how long it took him to have this realization, they had to wait years to see each other again, and they finally did at the end of the manga, wrapping up Annie’s story perfectly.
6 Does Gabi Inherit The Armored Titan? She Never Became A Titan Shifter
Since she was introduced, Gabi has wanted to inherit the Armored Titan. She would happily inherit any of the Nine Titans to prove to Marley that was a good Eldian, but specifically wanted the Armored Titan so she could feel more connected to Reiner.
In the penultimate chapter, she, along with all of the other Eldians that were not already titan shifters nor Ackermans, transformed into titans, causing some readers to think she may finally inherit one of the Nine Titans. However, she never became a titan shifter and can now accept that.
5 Do Jean And Connie Become Titan Shifters? No, They Do Not
Besides Gabi, Connie and Jean were the two other main characters that transformed. Once they did, they could be seen trying to eat Reiner as he fought them off, causing readers to think that one of the two Survey Corps soldiers may inherit the Armored Titan instead of another warrior.
However, similar to Gabi, they never ate Reiner, nor any of the other titan shifters. Instead, all of the new titans turned back into people as all of the titans, along with their powers, faded from existence.
4 Do Eren And Mikasa End Up Together? No, They Do Not
Despite Mikasa being his adopted sister, many shippers wanted her to be with Eren. They were very happy to see the two of them kiss at the end of the penultimate chapter. Unfortunately for them, however, this was more of a goodbye kiss rather than a romantic one, though Eren did reveal that he had romantic feelings for Mikasa.
As Mikasa decapitated Eren in the same scene that she kissed him, the two of them are not together, but he will always be in her heart as he was the most important person in her life since he saved her when they were children.
3 Is Eren The Father Of Historia’s Child? No, The Father Is Likely Historia’s Husband
While many shippers hoped that Eren would be with Mikasa, others wanted him to be with Historia. It made sense as Historia was the queen of a country where the majority of people saw Eren as their leader. These shippers were even able to convince the rest of the fanbase that Eren was the father of Historia’s child, despite her being married to another guy.
Though it is up for interpretation, Historia’s husband is most likely the father as any reason to believe otherwise was not confirmed, nor even hinted at. Those that wanted Eren to be the father can still believe this, but it is highly doubtful that this is what Isayama had in mind.
2 Did Eren Get The Freedom He Always Wanted? Yes He Did Via Reincarnation
From joining the Survey Corps and exploring the outside world to killing all of the enemies in his way so he could give his friends peaceful lives, all of Eren’s desires have revolved around freedom. At the end of the manga, he finally got everything that he wanted. Though he didn’t murder everyone that hated the Eldians inside of Paradis, he did kill all the ones that he needed to in order for characters like Mikasa and Armin to be safe.
After that, he was reincarnated as a bird, and can now fly wherever and whenever he wants. He is no longer the caged bird he once compared humanity to.
1 Did The Manga Have A Happy Ending? Surprisingly, It Did
Due to how dark Attack on Titan is, most readers expected the ending of the manga to be sad. However, Isayama surprised fans one last time and gave nearly every character in the world he created a happy ending.
The readers that cared a lot about the characters should be happy knowing that they weren’t all killed off or that their lives were ruined. They’re safe, happy, and can spend the rest of their lives doing whatever they’d like with other beloved characters by their side.
