The most interesting anime villains are the ones who plan so efficiently that some of their schemes end up working. As a result, they manage to convince, manipulate, or control those who were once heroes to join their side, at least for a short time.
This allows fans to get a brief glimpse into what an upstanding hero would be like if they were to become villains themselves, which is always an interesting thing to see. The corruption of heroes almost always leads to some severe consequences. And although the heroes have no control, they always end up regretful and blame themselves for their actions after they return to their senses.

Euphemia was a kindhearted individual who wanted to help others through peaceful means. As the princess of Britannia, she worked on restoring the rights of the Japanese people. Lelouch, having a soft spot for her, was ready to support her.
Unfortunately, Lelouch’s Geass was permanently activated, and when he stated that he could make her do anything he wanted, such as killing the Japanese, the power of his Geass forced this order onto his sister, who carried out his unintentional command against her will.
9 Fushigi Yuugi: Nakago Manipulated Yui Hongo Into Betraying Her Friend
Nakago was a powerful Seiryuu warrior who used his charm to manipulate others. He convinced Yui that her friend Miaka betrayed her and left her all alone in an unfamiliar world. After hearing it enough times, Yui began to believe him.
Yui became jealous and vindictive, often making attempts to steal Miaka’s lover Tamahome away from her and even sealing away the god Suzaku so that Miaka would not be able to summon him.

The Demon King spent years praising Meliodas and claiming that he was his most worthy successor. However, this proved to be a lie, as the Demon King sought only to use his son. He sent his son’s emotions to Purgatory bit by bit, leaving his main body an empty husk that he could easily occupy.
For a short time, the Demon King used his son’s body as a vessel, preferring to extend his own life and destroy Brittania.
7 Inuyasha: Naraku Used Kohaku Against His Sister
Kohaku was a demon slayer that was killed by a demon. The villain Naraku reanimated his corpse and used a shikon jewel shard to keep him alive. Naraku used Kohaku as a puppet, often using his presence to torment Kohaku’s sister, Sango.
During many of these encounters, Kohaku did not recognize Sango, and Kohaku was even the one responsible for giving his sister the giant scar that is on her back.
6 Sailor Moon: Wiseman Corrupted Chibiusa Tsukino To Become The Black Lady
Chibiusa was easy for Wiseman to manipulate since she was so young and impressionable, not to mention sent back in time to an unfamiliar era. Wiseman approached Chibiusa when she was alone, and convinced her that no one loved her or cared for her.
He showed her memories of her parents refusing to help her up after she had tripped. She was transformed into the Black Lady, a grown-up and evil version of herself.
5 The Promised Neverland: The Demons Made Norman A Ruthless Killer
Most of the demons were more than happy to eat humans, as it made them become more intelligent creatures. Over time, they grew dissatisfied with the quality of the cattle children, and sent some of the most promising ones to a facility to be experimented on.
At this facility, Norman was forced to grow up too quickly, and he concluded that the only way to truly be free was to kill all of the demons. He succeeds in killing many, even those that were innocent.
4 Bleach: Shukuro Tsukishima Manipulated The Memories Of Ichigo’s Friends And Family
Tsukishima was a villain who was capable of making just about anyone his ally. His powers allowed him to manipulate the memories of others, inserting memories of himself into anyone’s past. This way, he was able to convince them that he was a dear friend or relative.
He used this power on most of Ichigo’s friends and family, who went out of their way to protect Tsukishima from Ichigo since they had no idea they were being manipulated.
3 Hoopa And The Clash Of Ages: Hoopa’s Shadow Possessed Hoopa
The majority of Hoopa’s powers were sealed away after he caused great chaos and destruction by summoning other Legendary Pokémon to fight. As a result, Hoopa became more obedient and easier to reason with, and his time with humans taught him morals.
The powers that were trapped grew a conscience of their own, and once released, it possessed Hoopa and took out its rage on the surrounding area.
2 Fairy Tail: Ultear Manipulated Jellal
Jellal Fernandes was the leader of a group of slave children kept in the Tower of Heaven, whose hard work earned them their freedom. He, unfortunately, did not make it out so easily. He was confronted and possessed by what he believed was the ghost of Zeref, but it turned out to be Ultear Milkovich using possession magic.
This magic corrupted his personality, warping him into an evil person who became obsessed with reviving Zeref.
1 Digimon Adventure: Devimon Made Digimon Rampage Using Black Gears
Devimon had the ability to control the movements of the Black Gears that existed within the Digital World. When the gears came into contact with any Digimon, the Digimon would be impossible to calm down as it attacked both friend and foe alike.
Even some of the strongest Digimon were not immune to becoming insane as an effect of the gears. As long as they were possessed, these Digimon were forced to do whatever Devimon ordered them to.
