James Gunn Shares GOTG Holiday Special First Draft | CBR

James Gunn revealed the first look at the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special.

Gunn posted the cover page of the first draft to Twitter with a simple message: “This is the wrapping. The present is inside.” In keeping with the holiday spirit, Gunn is cheekily referred to as “Long Elf” on the title page.

The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special was announced during Disney’s Investor Day 2020, along with the next two years’ worth of projects from Marvel Studios. The special will film at the same time as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. Gunn previously teased the scale of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, saying, “Our designers & visual development geniuses are busy creating new, fantastic designs of other worlds & alien beings. I’m not sure the galaxy is big enough for all this magic.”

In addition to prepping for the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Gunn just wrapped post-production on The Suicide Squad for Warner Bros., which is slated for an August release. He also wrote the HBO Max series Peacekeeper, which places its focus on the Suicide Squad’s patriotic-themed member. Gunn will also direct episodes of Peacekeeper and serves as an executive producer on the series.

Written and directed by James Gunn, the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special will stream on Disney+ in 2022.
