Hulu’s upcoming Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K. has received a new version of the official trailer, this time with more blood and open limb dismemberment.
M.O.D.O.K. co-creator Jordan Blum posted the video to his Twitter page, writing “Hey [Marvel], your M.O.D.O.K. trailer is pretty cool but here’s an uncensored one. No one tells M.O.D.O.K. what he can and cannot say!” This updated version mostly adheres to the first trailer’s setup, with big-headed A.I.M. leader M.O.D.O.K. having to balance his organization’s poor financial state with with domestic issues and a divorce agreement back home. However, it also features more explicit language and violence– most notably, a scene of M.O.D.O.K. catapulting a horse has been replaced with somebody flying into a giant rat creature’s mouth and causing it to explode, getting guts all over Monica Rappaccini.
Blum also revealed that “There is an easter egg in the trailer that no one has caught yet but should hopefully make [Paul Scheer] very happy.” Scheer indicated that it was a billboard that appears in the trailer, with Blum replying, “My in world headcanon is that you directed the first movie to great success but Wonder Man found your script for the sequel ‘too cerebral’ and had you fired.”
Debuting in 1967’s Tales of Suspense #93-94, M.O.D.O.K. (Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing) has gradually evolved into a reoccurring Marvel antagonist for heroes like the Avengers. In addition to appearing in cartoons like The Avengers: Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and The Superhero Squad Show, M.O.D.O.K. was recently a primary villain of Square Enix’s Marvel’s Avengers video game. Beginning as scientist George Tarleton, this version of the character is a victim of Terrigenesis following the events of A-Day, eventually transforming Tarleton into something that physically resembles his comic counterpart and driving him insane.
