Elaine is one of the strongest fairies and the sister of the Fairy King. For the 700 years that King was absent, Elaine had no choice but to fill the role of the guardian of the forest and its Fountain of Youth. She was alone during this time until she met Ban, a thief originally after the fountain until Elaine told him that the forest relied on it.
He gives up on it and spends time with her instead, leading to the two falling in love. Elaine dies soon after due to a demon attack that destroys the forest. She is resurrected later in The Seven Deadly Sins, and thanks to her ability to interact with more people, she is able to grow as a character.
10 Elaine Doesn’t Get Jealous So Easily
After falling for Ban, Elaine experiences feelings of jealousy that are new to her. She remarks aloud that she was jealous of the Fountain of Youth, wishing that Ban came to steal her away instead. Ban responds positively to her words and promises to do just that. She also gets jealous that Jericho is traveling with Ban because Jericho’s feelings for him are clear and Elaine’s dream is to travel with him. After hearing that Ban only has eyes for her, all of her feelings of jealousy disappear and don’t resurface again.
9 Elaine Is Protective Of Ban
Initially, Elaine assumes that Ban is like every other human thief that came to her forest for the Fountain of Youth. She uses her magic to blast him away from the fountain over and over again. People usually want it for selfish reasons, but Ban sincerely gives up on stealing it when he discovers that the forest is dependent on it.
Elaine’s love for him is so selfless that she is willing to give him the Fountain of Youth to save his life and usually prioritizes his life over hers. When Jericho was carrying them to safety, she insisted that Jericho should focus on saving Ban instead.
8 Elaine Finally Grew Her Wings
Like her brother King, Elaine was a late bloomer amongst the fairies. The more powerful an individual is, the later their wings appear. In the fight against Melascula, one of the Ten Commandments, Elaine expresses her desire to be the one to protect Ban, leading to the growth of her wings. This not only makes her even more powerful, but her appearance grows older as well. When she first encountered a demon, she was defeated instantly, but with her wings, this isn’t likely to happen anymore.
7 Elaine Isn’t Confined To The Forest
After King, the original guardian of the Fairy King’s Forest and the Fountain of Youth, goes to save some of the fairies who left the forest, Elaine had to take over his role as protector for a long and lonely 700 years.
After being resurrected, Elaine has more freedom to travel the world like she always dreamed of. After the main events of the story, Elaine and Ban decide to go on an ale-tasting trip across Britannia.
6 Elaine No Longer Holds A Grudge Against King
When King goes to the Capital of the Dead to see his sister, he realizes that he isn’t able to see her, yet Ban is. Still convinced that Ban killed her, King is furious and demands answers. This is when Elaine tells him that he cannot see her because she doesn’t want him to see her. She was angry with him for abandoning the forest for so many years. She then tells him to protect Ban instead since Ban is a precious person to her. Since he honors her wishes, Elaine is able to forgive him.
5 Elaine Has A Child
At the end of the story, Elaine is seen pregnant with Ban’s child. She expresses her surprise at this since fairies typically are born of trees and flowers. This means that Elaine is one of the first fairies to have a long-lasting relationship with a human, otherwise, this would be common knowledge instead. She returns to the Fairy King’s forest with Ban during her pregnancy, and no longer feels that the forest is a place of loneliness anymore.
4 Elaine Has Many Friends
As the guardian of the Fountain of Youth, it seemed that Elaine had no time to make any friends in the forest. Once she is resurrected, she easily becomes friends with the Seven Deadly Sins and their allies. Despite initially seeing Jericho as a rival in love, Jericho is the first friend she made after resurrecting. Jericho was the one who snapped Elaine out of her grudge and even carried her and Ban on her back to safety. Jericho becomes one of Elaine’s most trusted friends after this.
3 Elaine Is Alive
Elaine spends a large portion of the story in the Capital of the Dead after being killed by a demon. When she is revived by one of Melascula’s spells, she is kept alive because of her grudge. When the grudge disappears, she keeps herself going through sheer will alone. She teeters between life and death for a while, and her temporary life is extended thanks to the healing powers of Elizabeth. However, she is fully revived after Ban transfers the powers of the Fountain of Youth to her, giving up his immortality.
2 Elaine Is No Longer A Damsel Waiting To Be Rescued
When Elaine was in the Capital of the Dead, she waited for Ban to fulfill his promise of stealing her. She isn’t shown looking for a way to get to him until she is resurrected by Melascula. Once alive, she heads straight for Ban. As the series progresses, she demonstrates more of her power. She puts herself on the front lines even though using too much of her own power can be fatal, but she refuses to sit back and do nothing.
1 Elaine Doesn’t Read Hearts
When Elaine was the guardian of the forest, she would get the occasional human visitor. These people would always be after the Fountain of Youth, so Elaine would read their hearts. Being able to see the thoughts of others is an ability shared by all fairies, and she wanted to see the intentions of her visitors, which were usually bad. After leaving the forest, Elaine doesn’t use this power anymore. She grows to trust people instead since many of her friends are sincere and speak their minds.
