Heels — Starz’s upcoming professional wrestling-themed drama starring Arrow alum Stephen Amell — is co-produced by Mike O’Malley, who also serves as showrunner. As it turns out, O’Malley will be involved in an on-screen capacity as well, stepping up to play the show’s villain.
Heels follows the Spade brothers, Jack (Amell) and Ace (Alexander Ludwig) — who both perform for the Georgia-based, family-owned Duffy Wrestling League (DWL) — as they clash over the legacy of their late father. As revealed by TVLine, O’Malley plays Charlie Gully, owner of the rival Florida Wrestling Dystopia (FWD), a new promotion that “is more interested in violent spectacle than telling a compelling story.”

O’Malley’s Gully “made his fortunes up north in the world of fishing and outdoor sporting equipment” and is “now dead set on ushering in a new territory war,” not unlike the war real-life wrestling mogul Vince McMahon waged against the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) and the American Wrestling Association (AWA) in the 1980s. Gully’s ambitions of expansion naturally put him on a collision course with Jack Spade and the neighboring DWL.
O’Malley’s career in the world of television has spanned many years. He currently stars as Roche on TNT’s TV adaptation of Snowpiercer, and created the Starz sitcom Survivor’s Remorse, which ran for four seasons from 2014 to 2017. Some may also remember O’Malley from Nickelodeon’s sports-themed game show Guts, which he hosted from 1992 to 1995.
Created by Michael Waldron, Heels stars Stephen Amell, Alexander Ludwig, Alison Luff, Kelli Berglund, Chris Bauer, Allen Maldonado, James Harrison and CM Punk. The Starz series does not currently have a premiere date.
