A new promo for Superman & Lois teases the show’s imminent return, as well as the challenges the Kent family will soon face.
The video features Clark Kent telling his son Jordan that his newly emerging superpowers come with responsibilities, while Lois Lane confesses to Lana Cushing that she feels something sinister is going on in Smallville. Perhaps the biggest development is Captain Luthor discovering a cave full of X-Kryptonite, which has already proven to be a thorn in Superman’s side.
In DC canon, X-Kryptonite is a variant of Kryptonite that bestows Kryptonian abilities to those who are exposed to it. It was revealed that Morgan Edge chose to set up mining operations into Smallville in order to gain more of the material, and has been testing it on Smallville’s citizens. Given that Captain Luthor hails from an Earth where Superman is a murderous menace, it appears that the soldier will use the Kryptonite to give himself an edge in his battle against the Man of Steel.
Superman & Lois is currently on a brief hiatus due to production briefly shutting down after a positive coronavirus (COVID-19) test. Supergirl is airing in its place, with Season 6 set to be the final outing for Kara Danvers.
Superman & Lois stars Tyler Hoechlin, Elizabeth Tulloch, Dylan Walsh, Alex Garfin, Jordan Elsass, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Inde Navarrette and Wolé Parks. The series returns May 18 and will air Tuesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
