Stephen Amell announced that filming has wrapped on the first season of Starz’s upcoming wrestling drama Heels.
The former Arrow star shared the news on Twitter, posting a picture of himself with some of his co-workers outside of a trailer. He added the caption, “Season 1 wrapped. Wait till you see it.”
Amell will play Jack Spade, one of the titular heels in the local Duffy Wrestling Association (DWA). A hard-working perfectionist, Jack struggles to balance his home life and his dreams of taking the DWA nationwide. Alexander Ludwig will play Ace, Jack’s brash brother and co-owner of the DWA who has his own demons to deal with.

Heels has suffered several setbacks during its production. Amell had previously contracted COVID-19 while shooting the first season and had to spend three weeks quarantining and recuperating. Not long after, he suffered a back injury while filming a stunt, but has since recovered.

Heels is about the men and women who chase their dreams in the world of small town pro wrestling. Set in a close-knit Georgia community, it follows a family-owned wrestling promotion as two brothers and rivals war over their late father’s legacy. In the ring, somebody must play the good guy and somebody must play their nemesis, the heel. But in the real world, those characters can be hard to live up to — or hard to leave behind.
Written by Michael Waldron, Heels stars Stephen Amell, Alison Luff, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Bauer, Allen Maldonado, James Harrison, Mary McCormack, David James Elliott and Joel Murray. The series has yet to receive a premiere date.
