JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: 10 Weirdest Character Quirks, Ranked

The strangeness of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure universe is often conveyed through the peculiarity of what situations its heroes find themselves in. For instance, Polnareff was once forced to lick a toilet seat, and Kakyoin fed an infant their own feces (one who recently attempted to kill them through the power of their Stand).

However, the anime characters themselves are equally strange, possessing a diverse number of behavioral quirks that distinguish them from the rest of the cast. Through identifying these irregularities, we can better appreciate how the series takes a creative and memorable approach to its most defining individuals.

10 Joseph Joestar Somehow Knows How To Read Peoples’ Minds

Joseph Joestar had the odd ability not only to predict what others would say but to quote them verbatim immediately before they managed to iterate their words. This precognitive talent was never explained, though he applied it without fail.

Mysteriously, the hero would cease to predict his enemy’s lines with age, abandoning his gimmick in the Stardust Crusaders and Diamond Is Unbreakable storylines. His uncanny gift was turned against him in his fight against Esidisi, where the Pillar Man predicted Joestar’s dialogue instead.

9 Josuke Is Easily Enraged By Insults Regarding His Hair

Josuke Higashikata is usually an even-tempered young man who isn’t quick to enter a fight. However, he becomes irrationally upset at the subject of his hair, abandoning all reason to attack any that aspersed him. This principle was upheld to such a rigid degree that he even fought Jotaro Kujo.

It was explained that a kindly stranger sharing his pompadour saved his life in a blizzard when he was only a child. Therefore, he would honor him through imitation from that moment on.

8 Cheap Trick Has A Maddening Vocal Pattern

As one of the deadliest side villains in the series, Cheap Trick is more formidable than his diminutive size might suggest. After latching onto his opponents, he shares a promise to them that the second they turn their back to someone, they will immediately die.

Horrifying as the fate that awaits them is, the rogue Stand does much to discredit his intimidating abilities by frequently whining at his host. He’ll ask them to do something like “destroy photographs,” completing every request with an affirmation of, “yes?”

7 Yoshikage Kira’s Fingernails Grow When He Can’t Act On His Impulses

JJBA Kira Yoshikage with blonde hair Cropped

Yoshikage Kira’s murderous inclinations define his character and establish him as an incorrigible villain. After Josuke and Morioh’s other heroes uncovered his identity, he was forced to flee and delay his killings so that his new persona would not be exposed.

Since he could no longer satiate his appetite, his fingernails began to grow at a shockingly prodigious rate. Instead of disposing of them, he kept them in jars labeled by the year. It was an excellent demonstration of the man’s derangement, albeit one too subtle for his adoptive family to understand.

6 Mista’s Tetraphobia Originates From A Childhood Trauma

Guido Mista was a member of Bucciarati’s team with the most irrational phobia of any JoJo hero – he avidly attempted to avoid the number four at all costs. This was to such a prolific degree that he even labeled his Stand from one to seven, skipping over the fourth number.

As asinine as Mista’s superstition might be, it wasn’t without a reason. When he was a child, a neighbor adopted one kitten out of four who would later scratch an eye out. After hearing of the incident, Guido’s mind was made up about the cause for his friend’s misfortune.

5 Rohan Kishibe Ate Spiders In Front Of Others

Rohan Kishibe was an eccentric manga artist who Koichi Hirose once idolized. Despite giving off a mostly normal (albeit arrogant) presentation, he had one quirk that established him to be more bizarre than initially perceived; the man casually ate impaled spiders.

There was no hesitation behind Kishibe’s unusual appetite, and he would not bother attempting to conceal it from Koichi or Hazamada during their first visit. It belied how uncouth the man actually was – as the two young boys would soon realize when they braved further into his house.

4 Bucciarati Licked People To Determine If They Were Lying

Bucciarati’s behavior at the beginning of Golden Wind was nothing short of eerie. When interrogating Giorno regarding Luca’s death, he licked him and stated that his taste would convey whether or not he was lying.

When Giovanna’s actions came to light, the two men fought a brief battle. Bruno was promptly defeated and convinced to join the protagonist’s crusade but mysteriously did not employ his tongue test against the adversaries they would later encounter. It would have been particularly useful against Mario Zucchero.

3 Melone’s Stand Uses Living Female Victims

While Melone’s scandalous behavior is explained through the nature of his Stand, he is nonetheless one of the most unnerving and creepy villains of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure universe.

In order for Baby Face to pose a threat, he must find a woman and submit her DNA into his Stand (which first manifests as a laptop). Factors such as her health and temper are considered when gauging a suitable host. Once the necessary reagents have been submitted, she serves as a surrogate “mother” for the humanoid entity that his Stand produces.

2 Doppio Uses Anything He Can Get His Hands On To Talk To Himself

Doppio communicates with his alter ego, Diavolo, through whatever he can get his hands on. It is supposed to emulate the type of communication one might have through a phone line, though physical mobile devices aren’t necessary to speak with the Boss.

He has used unconventional objects ranging from children’s toys to cigarette butts and even a live frog to reach his master. While conversing with Diavolo, Doppio is completely unaware of how deranged he appears in the eyes of others, generating suspicion about his motives and sanity.

1 Cioccolata Treats Secco Like A Dog

Cioccolata and Secco were handily the most unhinged villains of the anime’s universe. Though the former once tortured the latter, he later took him in as an assistant and a sickening sort of “pet.”

Secco would film his benefactor’s actions and work on his behalf, acting like a dog and being rewarded with “treats” for his efforts. Despite this maniacal relationship, the tunneling Stand user did not lament his owner’s demise against Giorno Giovanna, citing that if he was strong, he would have been able to emerge victorious in battle.
