Viewership data revealed that the Amazon Studios comedy Coming 2 America had a debut worthy of royalty.
Data from Nielsen revealed that Coming 2 America amassed 1.413 billion minutes of viewing from March 1 through 7, topping all other streaming movies and TV shows over the same timeframe. This is the first time an Amazon project topped Nielsen’s weekly ranking of streaming viewership and is an especially impressive achievement given that Coming 2 America was only available for four of the seven days recorded.
Since Nielsen began recording streaming viewership numbers, there have only been two other instances of motion pictures topping all streaming programming. Before Coming 2 America, Spenser Confidential and Wonder Woman 1984 also accomplished this feat, with 1.25 billion minutes of viewing and 2.25 billion minutes of viewing, respectively.
