It hasn’t taken very long for Jujutsu Kaisen to grow into one of the more popular anime sensations out of the past few years, and while its universal recognition isn’t at the level of Pokémon’s success, it’s unlikely to disappear any time soon. Jujutsu Kaisen is full of powerful and compelling characters. Satoru Gojo fills the mentor role to the series’ lead, Yuji Itadori, but he’s also one of the series’ absolute strongest jujutsu sorcerers.
Pokémon is a considerably lighter anime that explores very different territory, but that doesn’t change the fact that there are still a number of Pokémon with darker backstories and a level of strength that could decimate the planet. Satoru’s performance against some of these creatures would make for a fascinating change of pace.
10 CAN DEFEAT: Alakazam’s Severe Psychic Powers Are Still Inferior To Satoru
Psychic-type Pokémon are some of the most dangerous creatures from the entire series, and one extremely powerful Pokémon was introduced all the way back in Generation I’s Kanto region. Alakazam is the evolved form of Abra and Kadabra, and its psychic skills become increasingly problematic. Alakazam can use its psychic power to take out enemies without even moving its physical body. Thankfully, Satoru is experienced in this kind of opponent and a combination of his cursed energy manipulation and limitless techniques will devastate the Pokémon’s body and overload its mind.
9 CAN’T: Giratina Is A Dark Threat To All Pokémon
Generation IV of Pokémon is iconic for the fact that the Creation Trio of Dialga, Palkia, and Giratina are some of the most debilitating Pokémon to ever be encountered. Dialga and Palkia have power over time and space, but Giratina thrives on dark energy and destruction. Arceus even needs to banish Giratina to the Distortion World because it views the Pokémon as such a threat. Satoru has experience with evil forces, and he’s banished a few of his own, but Giratina is on a whole other level. It embodies destruction and would likely even give Jujutsu Kaisen’s Sukuna pause.
8 CAN DEFEAT: Rillaboom Intimidating Size Can’t Compete With Cursed Energy
The Pokémon series works very hard so that the three Starter Pokémon from each generation manage to be some of the best and most memorable of the new creatures. Every Starter Pokémon’s final form is designed to be a heavy hitter, but Rillaboom is a recent addition from Generation VIII’s Sword and Shield that looks like a true beast.
Rillaboom is a powerful Grass-type Pokémon with an aggressive attitude, but any of Satoru’s jujutsu attacks would completely overwhelm the poor Pokémon. Any of Satoru’s Limitless skills would decimate Rillaboom.
7 CAN’T: Deoxys Is A Highly Strategic Extraterrestrial Pokémon
Jujutsu Kaisen is only in its first season, but in this time, it’s still put Satoru Gojo up against some very dangerous cursed spirits. Satoru has become quite confident when it comes to malevolent spirits, but he’s got zero experience with aliens or creatures that come from beyond Earth. Deoxys is a Generation III Pokémon that comes from outer space. The DNA Pokémon is a Psychic-type, but it can shift into four different forms that prioritize different battle stats. These transformations allow Deoxys to adapt against Satoru as necessary and it still packs an impressive arsenal of attacks.
6 CAN DEFEAT: Gengar’s Ghostly Mischief Would Be A Training Exercise For Satoru
Many Pokémon lean toward cute designs, but Ghost-type Pokémon are a variety that often want to intimidate and instill fear. Ghost Pokémon have taken great strides since the original Pokémon titles, but Gengar is an iconic Ghost Pokémon who still gets a lot of attention. Gengar knows how to frighten its opponents, and it can even possess individuals and take over their minds. Satoru Gojo is an expert when it comes to exorcism and cursed spirit possession, and if Gengar somehow did grab a hold of him, it’d instantly be repelled.
5 CAN’T: Genesect Is An Ancient Weapon That’s Become Even More Potent
The Pokémon series does exceptional work with the origins for its hundreds of different creatures, and there are some especially fascinating Pokémon that have roots back to prehistoric times. Genesect is Bug and Steel-type Pokémon from Generation V’s Unova region, but it’s actually over 300 million years old.
Genesect used to be the apex predator of its time, and Team Plasma not only revives the Pokémon but also modifies it to include a deadly cannon. Satoru might hold his own against a singular Genesect, but it can produce an army of itself and overwhelm Satoru like a mob of Terminators.
4 CAN DEFEAT: Volcanion Is A Destructive Force Of Nature That Threatens The Planet
Pokémon designs have gone in some radical directions over the years, and Volcanion is such an unusual creature because it’s a rare combination of a Fire and Water-type Pokémon. This dichotomy envelops Volcanion’s nature, and its strong elemental powers can effectively keep the planet in balance or disrupt its nature. Volcanion is a Mythical Pokémon that’s terrifying to a normal human, but Satoru’s precision with cursed energy attacks, protective energy barriers, and his manipulation of the physics of time are all maneuvers that Volcanion has no defense against.
3 CAN’T: Rayquaza Holds Dominion Over The Planet With Waning Patience
Rayquaza is exceptionally powerful, but it’s also a Pokémon that looks impossibly dangerous. Rayquaza is essentially a giant Flying- and Dragon-type Pokémon that watches over the planet from outside of its atmosphere. Rayquaza holds dominion over the planet’s atmosphere and can also lead Hoenn’s Legendary Birds to do its bidding. Rayquaza can use the entire planet against Satoru, which is just too drastic of an assault for the sorcerer to be able to properly protect himself against. Satoru might even be limited to only being able to attack a fraction of Rayquaza’s body because the Pokémon is just so gigantic.
2 CAN DEFEAT: Mewtwo Is A Genetically Engineered Psychic Menace
Pokémon has its share of villains, both in human and Pokémon form, but Mewtwo is a creature that’s repeatedly appeared as a threat to both Pokémon and humankind. Mewtwo is particularly menacing because its incredible psychic abilities allow it to telepathically communicate with humans or take over Pokémon to do its bidding. Mewtwo would give Satoru a challenge, but his own jujutsu sorcery skills should still put him on top. He can collapse warped space in on Mewtwo or even repel his own energy attacks back at him.
1 CAN’T: Arceus Has The Powers Of A Pokémon God
Every new Pokémon release attempts to bring forward a new Legendary or Mythical Pokémon that trumps everything in the past, which can lead to some extremely overpowered creatures. Arceus debuts back in Generation IV, but it’s the creator of the Pokémon universe. Satoru Gojo is a master of his field, but he’s not a God. Arceus has dominion over time and space and could just erase or banish Satoru and be done with him. The Pokémon can also change his type at will, which allows it to have an advantage against Satoru regardless of what direction he takes the battle.
