When Netflix’s Bridgerton returns for Season 2, it will be without Regé-Jean Page’s Simon.
According to THR, Page will not to return following his one-season contract. The show’s official Twitter account also shared the news in the form of a letter from Lady Whistletown that reads, “Dear Readers, while all eyes turn to Lord Anthony Bridgerton’s quest to find a Viscountess, we bid adieu to Regé-Jean Page, who so triumphantly played the Duke of Hastings. We’ll miss Simon’s presence onscreen, but he will always be a part of the Bridgerton family. Daphne will remain a devoted wife and sister, helping her brother navigate the upcoming social season and what it has to offer – more intrigue and romance than my readers may be able to bear.”
Each of the Bridgerton novels focuses on a different member of the titular family. Season 1 focused on oldest sister Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) and her romance with the Duke of Hastings Simon (Page).
Bridgerton stars Phoebe Dynevor, Jonathan Bailey, Nicola Coughlan, Claudia Jessie, Ruby Barker, Golda Rosheuvel, Luke Thompson, Luke Newton, Ruth Gemmell, Polly Walker, Charithra Chandran, Rupert Young and Julie Andrews. Season 2 has yet to receive a release date.
