Steve Rogers Returns & 9 More Predictions For The Falcon And The Winter Soldier

The Falcon And The Winter Soldier has already gotten a lot of fans hyped after only the first episodes. From the great humor between Sam and Bucky to the awesome action sequences, it feels like Marvel has hit the jackpot once again with this next Disney+ show. Just like WandaVision, fans love to theorize and predict what could happen in later episodes.

WandaVision saw theories like “Reed Richards’ first appearance” and “Mephisto was the villain all along” spread online as every episode left fans with more and more questions. While The Falcon And The Winter Soldier isn’t quite as wild with mind-control and chaos magic, it still has left all fans watching with a bunch of questions and their very own wild predictions.

Spoilers for the first two episodes of The Falcon And The Winder Soldier below.

10 Sam Finally Puts On The Suit And Becomes Captain America

It came to many fans’ surprise when at the end of Avengers: Endgame, Steve Rogers offered the shield to Sam rather than his best friend Bucky. On the other hand, both Bucky and Steve seemed to agree that he was the better pick as he knows the true cost of war and Bucky was only recently the Winter Soldier.

The first episode shows Sam giving up the shield because it doesn’t feel like it belongs to him, but fans can expect him to win that shield back eventually, as we have seen him using it in the trailers. And hopefully put on the iconic suit and take on the mantle of Captain America just as Steve would have wanted.

9 Zemo Is The Mastermind Behind The Flag Smashers

Flag Smasher in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 1

Baron Zemo has been confirmed to return for the series and has even been seen wearing the iconic purple mask, but his role in the series is yet to be known. The last time we saw him, he was locked away in prison after his successful attempt to break up the Avengers and destroy Steve and Tony’s friendship.

Now that he has escaped and is free, it seems only logical that he is out there trying to stir up some anti-hero protests across the globe, and what’s better than creating your very own rioting alliance called the Flag Smashers? Although the name is pretty poor, they could still be the prominent antagonist group to the heroes, and Zemo could be pulling the strings.

8 Is Thunderbolt Ross Creating The Thunderbolts?

General Thunderbolt Ross William Hurt Civil War

General Thaddeus “Thunderbolt” Ross is a real pain for heroes around the world. He repeatedly tries to make them like lab dogs and is desperate to keep them under control and in the hands of the US Government. Since the blip, the world seems to be going a little wild, as to be expected, and the government seems keen to take full advantage.

In a time of chaos, and when fan-favorite heroes like Iron Man and Captain America are dead/inactive, what better time is it than to propose a US-only superhero team. They’re currently introducing John Walker’s Captain America to the world, and could have even more supes in store, perhaps Ross is laying the seeds for his Thunderbolts team.

7 If Sam Is The New Captain America, Will There Be A New Falcon?

With every new piece of MCU content, more new and interesting characters are introduced to us fans. So far in The Falcon And The Winter Soldier, one new face that made a fairly big impression was Sam’s partner and Air Force liaison Joaquin Torres, played by Danny Ramirez. One popular theory for the future of Torres is that he might take on the mantle of The Falcon in future MCU projects.

Sam Wilson could end the series as Captain America, maybe even shared with Bucky, but The Falcon title should be free, and since Torres seems fairly familiar with the suit and Redwing, and Sam took a particular liking to the character, he seems the perfect fit to put on the wings.

6 A Howling Commandos Cameo Would Be Awesome For The Fans

Bucky’s backstory, although it’s been explored, still has a lot more to tell. Fans don’t know much about what happened with Bucky in the war and during his time as The Winter Soldier, but this seems like it will be explored more in the new series. From flashbacks in his therapy sessions to his new amendments list, it’s clear Bucky will be confronting his past, so what better an opportunity will they have to show the return of the surviving Howling Commandos than now.

Imagine Bucky having a drink with Dum Dum Dugan talking about the war and telling him how Steve died. This would be an epic moment and could be great for Bucky as he goes on this road to redemption and overcoming his guilt.

5 The US Agent Has To Be A Villain

Wyatt Russell as John Walker's Captain America in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

In one of the most frustrating and fist-clenching moments of the MCU so far, episode one of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier left us on a cliffhanger after seeing some knock-off Captain America carrying the shield, posing for fans, and winking at the camera. This b-tec Captain America is US agent John Walker, played by Wyatt Russell.

It’s obvious that Sam and Bucky will do all they can to take that shield back and respect Steve’s legacy, but it is also probable that the US agent is actually the main villain of the film and was given the role by the government, maybe Ross again, to give themselves their own superhero.

4 Isaiah Bradley Could Be Given A Surprise Role In The Series

Carl Lumbly as Isaiah Bradley in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

Seeing as this show seems to have way too many different versions of Captain America from the comics, why not throw another one into the mix and suggest that Isaiah Bradley could have an appearance. Bradley is yet another test subject from the super serum from all the way back in World War II. Given as the series is likely to explore other people who have been subject to the Winter Soldier program, and taken the super-soldier serum, like the Flag Smashers may have, Bradley could appear.

It’s rumored that Carl Lumbly, who has been cast in an unknown role, could be playing Isaiah Bradley. Adding more mystery behind the shield and the super-soldier serum, this could be a great character for the show.

3 Could This Introduce Us To Weapon X And Wolverine?

Wolverine Savage Land David Finch

The idea of creating super-soldiers is going to take center stage in this series. From John Walker to Isaiah Bradley, to the Flag Smashers, it’s definitely a common theme. This also leads to a pretty cool connection, maybe a link with the Weapon X program could be created.

The mystery surrounding the government’s interest in turning people into super-soldiers could lead to a big discovery of the Weapons X program and then potentially the origins of Wolverine for the MCU. This may sound like a stretch but given how big a plot point it will be, it seems almost like this is the perfect opportunity to introduce him to the MCU, even just a post-credits scene will do.

2 Is Zemo Working With The Government And Setting Up The Thunderbolts?

Falcon Winter Soldier Zemo Mask

It seems unlikely that Baron Zemo could so easily escape from his cell, so perhaps a more likely scenario is that he was allowed to be released but on one condition. He would work with the government and spread the Sokovia accords or even create a government-controlled team of superheroes.

In the comics, Zemo is a major part of the Thunderbolts, and seeing as it looked like Baron Zemo was forced to work with Bucky in the trailer, maybe he is working for the government, and the Thunderbolts with Ross, Zemo, and US Agent is the real threat to Sam and Bucky. The future of the MCU could be linked to this growing idea of government-controlled heroes and people hating on the original Avengers.

1 Steve Rogers Returns And Gets A Final Goodbye

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers: Captain America

Chris Evans reprising his role as Captain America has been a regular theory by many in anticipation of this series. After staying back in the past and living his life out with Peggy, old man Cap passed on the mantle of Captain America to Sam, but after this touching moment, it is suggested that Steve is still wandering around during the events of The Falcon And The Winter Soldier.

A full-blown revitalization of Steve Rogers as Captain America will probably dampen his decision from Avengers: Endgame, but a scene of him giving Sam or Bucky or both of them to advise about the mantle, or maybe even a funeral for him could be a nice touching moment for the show and give them the closure to take on the Captain America name.
