Inferno Girl Red Debuts Pinup Prints Ahead of Kickstarter Launch (Exclusive)

A new Kickstarter for a graphic novel Inferno Girl Red by Mat Groom and Eric D’Urso is set to launch soon. Ahead of the launch, CBR can exclusively reveal six pinup prints by Nicole Goux, Darko Lafuente, Doaly, Serg Acūna, Eduardo Ferigato and Valeria Favoccia.

“It’s so often said that heroes need to believe in themselves — but If Tony Stark’s doubting himself, Iron Man’s repulsors still fire. If Superman has a crisis of faith, bullets will still bounce off him,” Groom said. “What if that wasn’t the case, though? What if a hero’s power was reliant on their ability to believe that not only will they win the day, but in doing so the world will be a better place tomorrow? Could YOU stare down a great darkness, knowing that if your faith falters, the world may well fall? That’s the position Cássia Costa is in, after an ancient cult and their army of demons rip her new home city out of existence — and a magical dragon bracelet rocketing into her life and affixing itself to her arm leaves her the only one equipped to do anything about it. Cássia’s life experience has made her an intensely rational, pragmatic girl — but she’ll have to find something to kindle her faith, and fast. Because she had a secret legacy to live up to. Because her mother’s life is on the line. And because Apex City needs Inferno Girl Red.”

“When I first sketched Càssia, I was hooked. And I immediately realized that I was going to put all of myself into Inferno Girl Red,” D’Urso added. “Inferno Girl Red is my first creator-owned project. Being responsible for designing something new that feels real and believable and at the same time, amazing, is a big challenge. But the joy that comes with being able to direct all aspects of the visuals — the world, the characters, the powers — is one of greatest thrills I’ve ever had. I cannot wait for this book!”

In Inferno Girl Red, Cássia’s not shy– but bouncing around from city-to-city as her Mom bounced from job-to-job meant it was hard to make friends… and any friends she did make disappeared pretty quickly once they found out who Cássia’s mother was. So instead of socialising, she focused on learning– showing a particular aptitude for science. Now Cássia has a chance for a fresh start in Apex City. Her impressive test scores have earned her an invitation to the world-famous entrepreneur Doctor Janine Caro’s prestigious boarding school for promising young minds. There, Cássia starts to settle in. She starts to make friends. She starts to see a future for herself.

But when a magical bracelet blasts through a window while Cássia is studying late one night, everything changes. Cássia’s quickly drawn into a strange war that she previously only heard about from her mother…
