WB Games Montréal and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment’s Gotham Knights has been delayed until 2022.
According to the game’s official Twitter account, “We are giving the game more time to deliver the best possible experience for players. Thank you to our amazing fans for your tremendous support of Gotham Knights. We look forward to showcasing more of the game in the coming months.”
Announced at DC FanDome in August 2020 and slated for a release this year, Gotham Knights takes place in a Gotham City where Batman is dead and the Bat-family (Batgirl, Robin, Nightwing and Red Hood) must step up to take on the Caped Crusader’s cavalcade of costumed rogues, including the Court of Owls.
“It is one open-world city, right from the start. And no, there’s no level gating whatsoever,” creative director Patrick Redding explained with discussing Gotham Knights in December 2020. “It’s really that, when you encounter open-world crime activities (and other activities that involve the AI), you’re going to see a range, right?” You might see guys that are a little bit weaker than you, and guys that are a little bit stronger than you. And how you approach each of those situations, it presents you with some choices that you’re going to have to make.”
Developed by WB Games Montréal and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Gotham Knights arrives on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2022.
