To celebrate the release of Zack Snyder’s Justice League on HBO Max, Deadpool star Ryan Reynolds revealed he’ll watch a film he has never seen before — 2011’s Green Lantern.
Reynolds shared on Twitter that he would watch Green Lantern with the help of Aviation Gin. “Excited to see the Snyder Cut,” Reynolds wrote, ahead of the film’s March 18 debut. “But ahead of its debut — and with the aid of a good amount of #AviationGin — tonight at 6 pm EST I’ll do something I’ve never done: actually watch Green Lantern. Happy #StPatricksDay.”

Aviation Gin was a brand of liquor previously owned by Reynolds before he sold the label to liquor producer Diageo for $610 million. Reynolds additionally tweeted a recipe for a green cocktail that uses Aviation Gin, which he named “Lantern’s Light.”
While Reynolds has never seen Green Lantern, fans know that the actor has taken many opportunities to mock his role in the superhero film. In Deadpool, Reynolds-as-Wade Wilson pleaded with his kidnappers not to make his “super suit green or animated.”
A more biting critique of the 2011 film came from Deadpool 2 when Deadpool utilized Cable’s time travel device to go back in time and kill Reynolds as he received the script for Green Lantern. Reynolds spoke at a press conference about why he makes fun of Green Lantern so often, noting, “I think it’s more about just laughing at myself, not laughing at other people, necessarily, that are involved in a project.”
Reynolds’ movie night plans received a reply from Justice League director Zack Snyder. He retweeted Reynolds’ tweet with the caption, “Hey @VancityReynolds maybe someday I’ll bring over some Hand on Stone bourbon and we’ll do a double feature.”
Zack Snyder’s Justice League is set to premiere on Mar. 18, along with a 30 minute behind-the-scenes documentary about the making of the film.
