Falcon and Winter Soldier May Force Bucky to FINALLY Be a Leader

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier will follow the titular heroes’ adventures as they try to navigate a world without Captain America. After the events of AvengersEndgame, society is a lot warier of heroes and is looking for a symbol to believe in. Steve Rogers believed that symbol could be Sam Wilson, aka Falcon, but Sam’s hesitance to take up the mantle could force Bucky into a leadership position he never expected to have.

Bucky grew up with Steve and always knew exactly what he was thinking. However, his years of torment as the Winter Soldier scrambled his memories and left him more fractured than his friend ever was. Now, after spending most of his life in the shadows, Sam may be the reason why the world will once again know the name Bucky Barnes.

Falcon and the Winter Solider will see Bucky and Sam deal with threats that believe the world doesn’t need Sam, including Zemo and the government’s own Cap replacement, US Agent. Bucky will have to contend with these entities to make sure Sam understands that the world needs Captain America. The only issue is that Bucky and Sam don’t get along, and the last person Sam would want to listen to would be Bucky.

Bucky never pictured himself being a leader after he lost his life to Hydra, and while he won’t be screaming “Avengers Assemble” anytime soon, he will have to step out of his comfort zone. To help Sam, Bucky will need to open up and help him master how to properly handle the shield in battle, which will, in turn, build his confidence. Obviously. that would mean a lot of combat, but if there’s anything this unlikely pairing can agree on, it’s that they like fighting bad guys.

Fans have seen plenty of the Winter Soldier’s horrible deeds in the MCUand Bucky hasn’t forgotten any of them. However, with Bucky having to force himself to be someone better to help Sam, the former Winter Solider might get to work past his trauma. Sam’s transition into Captain America won’t be easy, and that enforces the fact that the pressure will be on for both heroes. Let’s just hope that while the two will likely never see eye to eye, they can still come together to save the world.

Directed by Kari Skogland, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier stars Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Wyatt Russell, Noah Mills, Carl Lumbly and Daniel Brühl. The series premieres March 19 on Disney+.
