Zoe Kravitz, who plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman in 2021’s The Batman, says she’s just waiting for a call to resume filming on the movie, which has been shut down for several weeks due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
“[Part of me is] hoping to wake up every day to an email or a phone call saying, ‘We’re ready to go’,” Kravitz told Variety, highlighting the specific difficulties film productions – especially superhero movies – face. “You have people just touching your face, touching your body all day long. I need help getting into the catsuit. I can’t do it on my own. I was probably touched more than any job, just because of the clothes and the combat and all of that.”
Kravitz’s co-star Robert Pattinson, who plays the titular Caped Crusader, recently made headlines due to his own lockdown experience, in which he stated he’s all but given up the exercise routine DC and Warner Bros. planned for his physical transformation into Batman.
As for when film production in the United Kingdom, where The Batman is filming, might resume, British officials technically gave the all clear for productions to resume earlier this month – though the decision came with vague caveats, including taking steps to ensure that safety protocols are followed.
“The government is working closely with the screen sector to understand how different types of productions can comply with social distancing guidelines, and give confidence to people in the TV and film industries that there are safe ways in which they can return to work,” a spokeman for the British Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport told Deadline earlier this month.
