CW has acquired the rights to re-air DC Universe’s Swamp Thing TV show, according to Variety.
The DC Universe show aired just one season on the streaming service before being canceled. The Hollywood trade ties CW’s purchase of the rights to a need for new shows to fill gaps in programming created by shutdowns cause by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
The CW is a joint venture between CBS Entertainment and AT&T. AT&T is also the parent company of Warner Bros., which is in turn the parent company of DC and DC Universe.
Variety does not report whether there is any potential for a series revival, nor a planned premiere date for the re-aired series.
