Boba Fett will appear in the second season of Disney+’s The Mandalorian, played by veteran Star Wars actor Temuera Morrison, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Hollywood trade reports that it’s “expected” that he’ll play “just a small role” in the already-filmed second season – with THR confirming that Fett was the character  that walked up on the dead body of Fennec Shand (played by Ming-Na Wen) in season one.

Morrison played Jango Fett in the Star Wars prequel trilogy, and his character’s DNA was used for the clone army that would become the original Stormtroopers – as well as Jango’s adopted son, Boba Fett.

Daniel Logan played the young Boba Fett in Attack of the Clones, while the character was played by multiple actors – Jeremy Bulloch, John Morton, Mark Austin, Don Bies, and Nelson Hall – in Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Morrison voiced Boba Fett in the re-releases of the Star Wars original trilogy and several video games.

The character died in Return of the Jedi, although now non-canon comic books and prose novels revealed that he survived. If THR‘s report is accurate, this would mark the first confirmation that he also survived in the new continuity – though the “how” remains to be seen.

The Mandalorian‘s second season is expected to debut this October on Disney+.
