Two-time Oscar-winner and one-time Marvel Cinematic Universe villain Cate Blanchett is reportedly in talks to join the cast of Borderlands, Lionsgate’s film adaptation of the 2K first-person shooter PC-console game.

According to Deadline, if the deal is finalized, Blanchett will star as Lilith, “one of the main protagonist in the game series who is part of the Siren class, a group of women with incredible powers.”

Directed by Eli Roth, the film is reportedly slated to begin shooting later this year.

Marvel Studios founder Avi Arad and Ari Arad are producing the project through their Arad Productions banner.

And Louis Leterrier, who directed 2008’s Incredible Hulk for Marvel Studios/Universal is reportedly in negotiations to direct Bright 2, the follow-up to Will Smith’s 2017 sci-fi original Netflix film directed by David Ayers (Suicide Squad), who will co-write and produce the sequel.

At the time Bright was Netflix’s most-streamed original film, but has since been bypassed by several others, including most recently the new record-holder Extraction, produced by the Russo Brothers and starring Chris Hemsworth, which will also reportedly get a sequel.
