Tyler Chin-Tanner and Val Rodriuez Mayan high fantasy series Mezo will return in 2021 for a sequel, subtitled The Battle of Cobán Rock. Published by Chin-Tanner’s A Wave Blue World, Mezo‘s first volume a young woman named Kyma fights to avenge the death of her father, Hegol, and leads the surviving members of her tribe out of danger against a brutal general Tzalekuhl.
“It’s the showdown we’ve been waiting for,” said Chin-Tanner. “Even though the first story arc stood on its own as an introduction to this world, it was really building toward something monumental, and that’s the upcoming battle of Cobán Rock. I just want to thank the audience for allowing me to tell this story, and hopefully many more to come.”
The first volume of Mezo, subtitled Rise of the Tzalekuhl, was collected in January 2020.
“Volume 2 picks up right where volume 1 ends – Kyma has reunited the tribes, but will their combined strength be enough to stop the coming attack from Roden, Phegor and the rest of the Tzalekuhl soldiers?” reads AWBW’s description of the new volume.
Chin-Tanner and Rodrigues are returning, as are colorists Doug Garbark and Varga Tomi, letterer Thomas Mauer, and editor Justin Zimmerman.
Like its original volume, Mezo Vol. 2: The Battle of Cobán Rock is part of AWBW’s Premier Program, where the first issue will be distributed in print, followed by a bi-weekly release of the remaining digital issues. A full collected edition will come our two months after the #1 – both in print and digitally.
