Writer Dan Slott has announced that the end of the current Iron Man 2020 event series will also be the end of Slott’s run with the character completely. That event series was postponed after issue #3 due to the coronavirus pandemic’s effects on the Direct Market’s primary distributor, Diamond.
“That’s a wrap on my 25th and final IRON MAN plot! Which was always the plan…” Slott tweeted. “From Day 1 it was all about building to a big Iron Man 2020 story (in 2020!). What a trip it’s been, with so many talented co-creators & the best editorial team in comics! Can’t wait for you to see it!”
Slott later corrected himself, saying 23 plots and not 25 – as Gail Simone wrote two issues of Slott’s Tony Stark: Iron Man run, in addition to other writers also chipping in to co-write the series with Slott.
Slott’s Iron Man run began June 20, 2018 with Tony Stark: Iron Man #1.
The writer says he plans to continue on Marvel’s Fantastic Four.
