Renowned scientist and inventor Nikola Tesla adds another job title to his resume – giant robot pilot – in the new alternate history five-issue series Electropunk: Children of the Future by Marvel/DC animation vet Jeff Wamester and writer B. Dave Walters.
“In 1895, legendary genius and inventor Nikola Tesla had a fire that burned his lab to the ground; he later claimed that this tragedy set his work back 50 years. In the world of Electropunk, this fire never happened,” reads the description. “So, by the beginning of our story in 1910, Nikola Tesla is one of the wealthiest and most influential men in the world. As a byproduct of his wealth and scientific progress, he makes a shocking discovery: there are, in fact, things that go bump in the night. He discovers that there is some truth to most of the world’s myths and legends, and there are all manner of creatures preying on an unsuspecting humanity.
“So, Tesla takes matters into his own hands. He starts by raising his orphaned niece and nephew, twins Ruthie and Chuck, to be mankind’s sword and shield. Tesla designs suits of enhanced armor to protect both their bodies and their identities. In short, they have to become monsters to combat monsters.”
Electropunk #1 is scheduled to debut April 2021, and the creators are raising funds now on Kickstarter.
