As hundreds of thousands of dollars are being raised by DC, Jim Lee, and #Creators4Comics to help U.S. comic book stores via the Book Industry Charitable Foundation (BINC), a new initiative launched today to help Canadian comic book stores.

This past Saturday, the Canadian non-profit the Comic Legends Legal Defense Fund (not to be confused with the U.S.-based Comic Book Legal Defense Fund) decided to expand their mandate beyond censorship battles to launch a rental relief program to assist Canadian comic book stores – and have contributed $10,000 themselves to start the program.

“This is a significant change for our organization, but these are unique times,” said board member Jay Bardyla. “We’re fortunate to be in a position to do something and we hope to help in some way, so that when things return to normal, those stores, and the people that built them, weill still e there for everyone.”

CLLDF has launched #Canucks4Comics, intending to have auctions similar to #Creators4Comics with 100% of all proceeds aimed at going directly to brick-and-mortar comic shops located in Canada.

Instructions on how to be a part of this effort can be found here.
