Donny Cates and a cosplayer at Dragon’s Lair Austin

Donny Cates continues to be in the giving mood, as another comic store has announced the writer has swooped in to pay for all the comics on hold by customers at the store.
Angie Blackmon, owner of Dragon’s Lair Comics in Austin, Texas, tweeted that Cates – a long-time Austin resident (and former retailer himself) has surprised them with this offer during these tough times for retailers.
“Dragon’s Lair Austin Comic Subscribers, We’re so incredibly happy to announce that Austin comic book writer, Donny Cates, has purchased your comic holds (what’s currently in your file) for you during this challenging time. We can’t begin to thank him enough for taking care of us and all of you. He’s a true inspiration and a beautiful soul. We love you, Donny! Thank you for fighting for us! #donnycatesistheman”
While Dragon’s Lair is closed to visiting customers, they remain open for shipping orders to new and existing customers.
On Tuesday, the nearby Austin Books & Comics announced Cates – who is a customer there – did the same for their customers.
