Writer/director James Gunn doesn’t think there will be a need to postpone Warner Bros.’ The Suicide Squador and Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 despite cascading delays in film release due to the coronavirus pandemic.
“Right now there’s no reason for #TheSuicideSquad release date to move. We are on or ahead of schedule,” Gunn tweeted. “We were extremely fortunate to wrap shooting & set up editing from our homes (due to a post production team & studio with foresight) before quarantine.”
The Suicide Squad was filmed from September 2019 to February 2020, and is scheduled for release August 6, 2021.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 doesn’t have a release date currently, but Gunn has said previously he intended to begin filming this year.
“Right now the plans with Vol 3 are also exactly the same as they were before coronavirus,” he tweeted subsequently.
