Emmanuelle Chriqui has been cast as Lana Lang in a ‘series regular’ role for CW’s upcoming Superman & Lois TV series, according to Deadline. But here’s the catch – she’s Lana Lang-Cushing.
Chriqui’s Lang-Cushing is descrbied as a loan officer at Smallville Bank who “stayed in Smallville when others left for something bigger and brighter.” According to Deadline, Lana will reconnect with Clark “during one of the most difficult periods in her life.”
The trade doesn’t explain the obvious question of who the “Cushing” is in the situation, but back in February PrimeTimer reported that Lang would be married to a firefighter named Kyle Cushing, and that they have two daughters – Sarah and Sophie. According to that unconfirmed report, “They are in a dark place: Kyle is a drunk and Sarah tried to take her own life a year ago.”
“… Superman & Lois revolves around the world’s most famous superhero and comic books’ most famous journalist, played by [Tyler Hoechlin] and [Elizabeth Tulloch], as they deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today’s society,” reads Deadline‘s description of the series.
Chriqui recently starred in the short-lived Fox series The Passage, and previously appeared in Entourage and The Mentalist. She’s appeared in several comic-based projects before including 2005’s The Crow: Wicked Prayer, and voiced Sapphire Stagg in Cartoon Network’s Beware the Batman, as well as performed voice role in the anime adaptation of Vampire Princess Miyu.
The CW has not confirmed the casting or announced an expected premiere date for Superman & Lois.
